Another sore subject....
This morning on my way into the market yard parking lot there was a bag of food garbage left outside the dumpsters. It's been run over and smeared in that area. Real unattractive.
Also when I reached my parking area I hit a beer bottle. I can almost bet the bottle is a remnant from last night's Kruise Night. I would like the boro to look into utilizing the inmate labor program that the county jail runs to clean up all the borough's parking lots after Kruise night !! This is not the first time I've suggested it. If borough employees can't keep up with all the other garbage they have to pick up all over town, then perhaps this would be worth looking into.

Any event should be planned for, top to bottom. The lack of garbage collection is symptomatic of poor planning.
I also saw this at the Race way fire works on the fourth. At the end of the event, there was kaos as people tried to leave. I noticed that there was no people directing traffic or pedestrians.
These issues can be avoided. Events have to obtain a permit with the town. The permit can and should include dealing with these type of issues.

LeeLye:
You are going to make one helluva public works director for us someday!
I passed your comments to Joe Bellina to look into along with the Partnership and our own p/w folks. However, after emailing Joe, I found out that lightning hit Borough Hall last night and took out the entire IT infrastructure, including email. Obviously, the G-ds were angry at us!
In any case, I will be sure to find out what can be done about quicker cleanups after Kruize Nights and other events. This event is nearing its end for this year, so this is something the planners can also discuss if it returns in 2007.
