Bicycle safety program will make debut July 1 FREEHOLD - A program that seeks to protect the borough's bicycle-riding population will get under way on July 1 at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Throckmorton Street, from 3-4:30 p.m. The project was initiated by Councilman Marc Le Vine, who said more attention needs to be paid to the growing number of people in town who are riding bicycles. Le Vine said riders need to use a light on their bicycle, wear reflective clothing and wear a helmet. "It's been a very long time since the borough has seen so many bicycle riders on its streets," Le Vine said. "We also have a large influx of immigrants who do not speak English and who do not know the rules of the road related to safety."
