freehold.patch.com/articles/developers-propose-apartments-for-bennett-street-school-propertyI had heard about this and am glad the Patch caught wind. The last thing this town needs is anymore high density dwellings, including apartments or condos. This town already has way too many rentals and apartment buildings which has contributed to the over crowding and strain on infrastructure. . It does not matter if they are high end or low end, this is an idea that needs to die. Chances are, it would just turn into Drug Mill jr. Some quotes from the link: “All of us who have lived in Freehold a long time have [seen] apartment complexes that started out really beautiful. Look at them now,” said Marianne Earle. “I’m very concerned.”“I think our concerns are that you as business people want to rent high-end. Our concerns are (if that doesn’t happen) that you are going to relax your standards,” said Sharon Shutzer, who noted she was speaking as a resident, not in her capacity as a council member. “Realistically, if we relaxed our standards a little bit, 12 apartments could fill a classroom.”

The poor building looks so lonely and forlorn! I swear I feel some sadness emanating from it when I pass by.
Anyway, Brian, I'm wondering if you can find some links to old photos when it was a Police Station? I'd love to see!

Anyway, Brian, I'm wondering if you can find some links to old photos when it was a Police Station? I'd love to see! I know I don't have any photo's from when it was an active station. It closed before I bought a camera. I would lave to look around on line. I am sure there has to be something. Either way, it is sad to see it like that. The last time I was over in that area, I was on foot. I came across a tree with a huge pile of used condoms and wrappers all over the place. Looked like a hooker had a real good night.

This picture is disgusting. I took it right across the street from the Bennet Street school. This is a picture of is a pile of used condoms and wrappers found at the base of a tree. They were everywhere, including the street and sidewalk. Clearly, a hooker had a good night. This is not a good reflection of that neighborhood. I reported this to a cop a few days later. This cop had nothing good to say and a dim view of the borough. He also informed me that this was likely due to a scenario that plays out often in town. Vans full of hookers from lakewood come up and visit houses with large male populations. It is very hard to combat, apparently. Attachments:
