Freehold, keep a good eye out. The Downtown Concert Series, from St. Peter's Church, will be announcing their line up for the second season very shortly. People who like classical and acoustic base music should be very happy with the coming year. I have to admit, I got a sneak preview of what is coming and it is a great line up. The line up for season two has been announced and it is great! September 24th- New York Polyphony - Praised for a “rich, natural sound that’s larger and more complex than the sum of its parts” (NPR), these four men deliver dynamic performances in a wide range of styles. From austere medieval melodies to cutting edge contemporary works, New York Polyphony balances refined musicianship with a uniquely modern sensibility. November 19th- Juan Pablo Horcasitas, piano – From his recital debut in Mexico City at the age of 9, Juan Pablo has been astounding audiences across the Americas and around the world. He brings his artistry to the Downtown Concert Series showcasing our concert grand piano with a recital that highlights his unique Latin flair. February 18, 2012- Dave Clive and the Nawlins Funk Band- The Nawlins Funk Band heats up Mardi Gras with great jazz and blues music from the deep South transported to the venues of New York City… and now to downtown Freehold. May 5, 2012- The parker Quartet, The New York Times captures the essence of The Parker Quartet, extolling that “passages that demand ensemble precision were flawlessly balanced, perfectly tuned and sheathed in lustrous textures.” This brilliant, youthful string quartet won the Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance in 2011 and now brings its brilliance to the intimate stage of the Downtown Concert Series.
