On July 4th, the borough will have its annual reading of the Declaration of Independence on the steps of borough hall. This is a great event and all are encourage to attend. It begins at 9 am.

I just realized I have not posted since this event. What better way to get back in action than with a follow up?
Most years I get stuck working the 4th, dealing with massive crowds. The reading is a real treat for me and I consider it a very classy way to honor the nations birthday. Kevin Coyne did a really good job and the event went very well. Few towns have anything like this and we are lucky to have it. There was a very nice crowd and I think everyone really enjoyed it. Bethel AME choir led the crowd with a couple of songs, "God Bless America" and the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." For me, this was better than dealing with massive crowds and fireworks.
