On Sunday June 5th, Freehold Borough had a group of visitors from the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance (WWBPA)tour the borough. The WWBPA met with a group of borough residents at the Marlboro High School on Rt 79. These residents are local bike enthusiasts who agreed to give a tour of the town. Included in this group was Councilman John Newman, who arranged this event, Jeff Friedman, Antonia Sans Milar and Lynne and Ron Reich.
The WWBPA had a nice group of about 15 people for this nice leisurely ride that went along the Henry Hudson Trail, which is operated by the Monmouth County park System. One participant was even in a very fast wheel chair and had no problem keeping up. It was a great opportunity for the borough residents and our visitors to compare notes as the WWBPA learned about the local area.
Once this group arrived in the borough, we stopped at the high school. Lynne really did a nice job as tour guide, stating facts and history about the borough. The group then diverted down side streets to the County Court House where again, Lynne did very well.
At this point I had to leave the group, but they went over to Stephano's Pizza for lunch. After that it was to the Metz Bike Museum for a prearranged tour of the facility.
Here is a link from the WWBPA with a nice slide show of their day.

Our visitors really did enjoy themselves and many of them were not familiar with the borough. They will be back and this was a wonderful example of the benefits that a bike friendly town can have for tourism and local economics.
