I'll leave the discussion about Mayor Wilson and his legacy to others -- my views on the man and his time in office are well documented.
More interestingly, I want to float the idea of a person whom I think would be an EXCELLENT Mayor of Freehold. I am supporting Mayor Kelsey.
Now -- lest you think I have flipped my lid and I am promoting myself, get real. No shot. I can't get elected there, don't live there, and would not be the best possible choice.
However, I was thinking about what people should want in a Mayor -- and who might best fit that description for this town.
Like an epiphany, I woke up this morning and realized that person is in my own family. Most importantly, he didn't even vote for me -- so he doesn't have that scar on his record either.
What do I think Freehold wants in a Mayor.
1) A professional
2) Someone who everyone likes
3) Someone who knows everyone in town
4) Someone who is completely apolitical
5) Someone who is a true centrist pragmatic person
6) Someone who actually doesn't want or desire or need to have the job
7) Someone with no political agenda
8) Someone with no ties to either party
9) Someone who raised and is raising his kids here
10) Someone born and raised in Freehold, work(s) in Freehold, has business experience in Freehold.
11) Someone whose kids went to Freehold Public Schools
12) Someone whose job is an auditor of federal government waste
13) Someone with positive relationship with all the diverse groups in town.
So -- without his knowledge, and most certainly over his strenuous objection -- I nominate my brother Dan -- the good Kelsey -- to be the next Mayor of Freehold.
My letter ripping him won't be far behind his swearing in.
