www.nypost.com/p/news/national/walk_among_stars_1k0geIBKYvrBziGnPqgV6H"Anyone can nomi nate a celebrity for consideration. But the celebrity must agree to it. The Chamber was embarrassed when it nominated a few stars who turned them down -- the most prominent being Bruce Springsteen and Julia Roberts. Since then, they check before making their selections public." The above link only had a brief mention of the Boss. It is an interesting read on its own, but when I read this I was reminded of the local lore that Bruce had turned down the idea of some sort of honor or tribute to him here in Freehold Borough, his hometown. If he turned down a star on the Hollywood walk, then we are in good company. It sounds like a pattern of humility from Springsteen, not such a bad trait from a celebrity.
