The following link is quite inspiring. It looks like Geo put aside partisan views in favor of endorsing an idea that the borough GOP has run on for the past several years. The idea of turning the borough into a transit village is certainly not new and has also been discussed on this site over the years as well. Geo has had such a strong interest in the local bus station. He also spearheaded a campaign to clean it up to become the sparkling gem of the borough it is today. Maybe we can rename it the Geo bus stop? Anyway, click on the link as i will only post a couple of snippets. It is always good to see borough hall finally catching up with the needs of the residents. They are slow, but mean well. newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2011-02-16/Front_Page/Councilman_supporting_idea_of_shuttle_bus_to_train.htmlFREEHOLD — The Borough Council has passed a resolution supporting the idea of a shuttle bus that would run from the Freehold Borough bus station to the Matawan- Aberdeen train station. “We think Freehold Borough could be more of a transit center for our residents who want to go to NewarkAirport, or to New York City for the day, or who commute to New York or northern New Jersey,” Schnurr said.

Dear Paul, We are replying to your feedback of 3/14/2011 regarding subject: Freehold Borough bus station to Matawan train station. Your information was forwarded to the appropriate departments for review and consideration. Our staff already met with Freehold officials on this matter...they want us to reroute the #135 line to serve the rail station....to do so would inconvenience existing NYC commuters and force us to miss some key bus stops along the route, so we do not plan to do this. NJ TRANSIT appreciates you taking the time to share this information. It is important to us as we work to improve our service to you.
Thank you for contacting NJ TRANSIT. Sincerely, Carmine Melillo NJ TRANSIT Customer Relations Specialist
The above was found on facebook on the Freehold in Jersey page. It was posted by a Freehold resident. Clearly this is not going to happen for now. Something like this is not going to be easy to get done, and I am sure it is not a done deal or the last we will hear about this issue.
