I am putting this under the ordinance section to create awareness that the borough does have an ordinance in place requiring that all outdoor holiday decor be taken down after a certain period.
Last year we had spirited discussions on this site after several home owners had received visits from the code enforcement office. These residents were surprised due to the fact that they were unaware of the ordinance.
With the never ending snow that we have had melting, it is likely that CE will be out and about.
I do not have specifics about the ordinance, but if I get them I will post it. Last year we did learn that the ordinance serves two purposes. Aesthetics and safety. The safety factor is that outdoor lights are not intended for long term uses outdoors. Allegedly, many products have warnings stating this.

Brian no one is aware of code laws in this town UNTIL you violate one. Most towns have their code laws available for viewing on their town site! Not Freehold boro! I don't know if it's just due to convenience, laziness or if they like to use code enforcement more like a trap for home and business owners. Seems more like the latter. Even still I've never heard of Christmas lights being a code violation. Kind of reminds me of the law suits you hear about where people, towns or businesses are forced to take down Christmas decorations because they offend someone.
