Freehold Dudes and Dudettes:
It is at this time of year that my heart and mind start to wander back to the days when I was a boy [early 20s] and living in an affordable dump in Freehold Borough.
The pickets. The Protests. The anger and screaming.
It makes me want to cry.
Much to my surprise the Freehold Voice -- which I love more than life itself -- still exists, although someone better check the pulse real soon.
There are about tow or three posters and 8 to 10 posts a month -- so it has never fulfilled its destiny as the singularly most important voice in Freehold Borough -- but one look at the management tells you all you need to know. Muddled Mod Brian has run this great institution into the ground.
Still I love it. Its like writing your posts on a steamy bathroom window after taking a shower. About the same number of people will read them.
So I am back, writing from the city of brotherly love. I am about 18 months away from being a certified psychotherapist although I will need time for extensive field training.
Today, I will share with you my predictions for 2011. But, first take a look at what i predicted for 2010. The comments in bold were just added by me.
Dear Dudes and Dudettes:
Here are my predictions for 2010:
*** There will be a major power struggle between Snurr and nutszer over who will be chosen to succeed Mayor Michael "Chupacabra" Wilson. My sources indicate to me that Chupacabra Wilson is carefully weighing his options. He vowed that he would not run again in 2011 when his term is up, but he believes he is the only person that can keep the machine going. I believe Mayor Mike for Life will not step down and that could lead to an eventual primary challenge by Snurr. Wilson will wait till early 2011 to make a decision and it will be based on outcome of 2010 borough race. The moment of decision is upon the mayor for life. Like Kim Jung Il of North Korea he is weighing retirement. Mayor Chupacabra has actually been in office longer than the North Korean despot with some might argue equally positive results. I predict Mayor Mike will not yet be able to relinguish his death grip on the mayoralty and will run one last time. But. more on this later.
*** DiBenedett and Snurr will face a strong challenge in November for their council seats but they will overcome the GOP challengers. Both are worried that resentment towards Obama and the Dems on the national level will hurt their chances. They will run a very aggressive campaign against the GOP. Both reportedly think that machine took for granted the GOP and that is why Levine went bye bye. They will post campaign signs this year. Democrats will win if Miller runs again. I count this as a win for me. Miller lost again and that is a good thing.
*** Republican Councilman John Newmen will receive a cordial but chilly reception on the council. They will keep him informed up to the letter of the law and no more. They will put out feelers to see if he is willing to switch to the Dems. If he rejects offer he will be ostracized. They will try and paint him as an obstacle to progress. Councilman Newman is doing fine work on my favorite issue -- bicycles. I love biking and so does he. He has not turned Dem so I expect they will be grooming a secret candidate to take him out in 2012.
*** The Landlords Association will coalesce as a major political force and begin to work behind-the-scenes to secure political support. This will be done in a hush-hush fashion. It is clear from what I have read here that they have emerged as a major political force. More on them later.
*** Latinos will continue to make strides in the borough and their influence and presence will increase. The hated LLA and Casa Freehold will lead these efforts despite muddled Brian's undying enmity. They appear to be in observation mode -- always watching and waiting to pounce. The failure to pass a federal immigration bill must be considered a setback.
I am burned out looking into my crystal ball so I will take a break for now. I will be back with more predictions later...
