I've been trying not to say anything about this, but for an administration that wants to "shrink the size of government" wouldn't the elimination of this 100k+ position be a good first step?
The one thing I thought a Lt. Governor was supposed to do is to provide coverage/leadership when the state's Governor was not available. If they are both going to take vacation/personal days at the same time, what function is being served?

PS. I am not taking a shot at our Lt. Governor's personal situation as I fully understand the gravity of her family's circumstances. However maybe our Governor should have delayed his trip to Disney World and stayed home to manage the state he was elected to manage.

The position was created before Christie, he just happens to have the first LT for the state. Your right about the Disney vacation. It doesn't look good while other politicians are getting good photo ops picking up shovels and digging in. He should have stayed in Jersey if nothing else, for good appearances.

Gov. Christie did have that family vacation planned out likely because it was the children's school break. And he, like all of us, are allowed to take an annual family vacation for a breather. Lt. Governor Guadagno had to probably say goodbye to her dad and I can relate.
No, neither one should have been simultaneously en absentia. Guadagno's situation with her dad was a rather imperative necessity and I believe that Christie could and should have come back by himself on Sunday morning if he desired to heed the weather predictions, especially knowing his Lt. Gov. was also out of the state.

Ahhh Brian, my query was more of a rhetorical question.
I actually think the position of Lt. Governor is a good idea. But I think this was a major mistake by an administration fond of pointing out the shortcomings of others.
