In a very well-written article by Colleen Curry (link below), Freehold Borough Councilman John Newman "earns extra credit" with a Kean University class led by professor and author Frank Freyre, about the impact of illegal immigration on small town life. John, I'd love to learn your experience here. How did the students respond? Did they also go to other towns such as Lakewood and Red Bank to compare and contrast the similar situation? What did you learn? I think it's pretty groovy that you took time here. If I knew about this, and I had the time to spare, I also would have enjoyed mingling with students and expanding my intellectual horizons. freehold.injersey.com/2010/11/23/immigration-the-lesson-of-the-day-in-freehold-borough/

I have been invited to attend this year as well as past ones. ( not sure why I get invited) Unfortunately, this is always during work hours. I have wanted to go out of curiosity. In the past, former councilman Le Vine was also invited. I do not know if he ever went. Lisa, it is interesting that you mention the "impact of illegal immigration. " When reading that article, that term is not a part of the vocabulary of most in attendance.
