Back a while ago, some people noticed the benches in front of the Hall of Records had been removed. As of yesterday, the county workers were busy putting in some brand new benches.

Couple more things......
A reader emailed me and pointed out something else worth mentioning. The flower pots down town have been planted with autumn cabbage. For people ( like me) who appreciate the little things it is a very nice touch and change from bare pots. ( I think this is the first year it is being done)
Also, for those who haven't noticed, the site calendar has a number of events added for this month from several local groups. If anyone knows of events that are missing, feel free to contact me or add it to the calendar yourself.

The Partnership has added the cabbages as a new addition this year to the flower pots as an experiment. We will also be adding some very small evergreeens to some of the pots later this month. The small evergreens will be planted around town next spring when the regular flowers go in.

It is good to see. Look forward to the evergreens.

One more thing...
I think the addition of the gazebo a few years ago, the punching in of a new entrance to the Hall of Records parking lot, the addition of funky new tenants like the dance studio & RU Music, the reopening of the American Hotel, and the upcoming cleaning of the Freehold sign above the liquor store on the corner of Main St. & South St. are very good things for upping our little town's sometimes unfairly maligned image.
Now if we could only convince the owners of the liquor store to carry a greater selection of products - like the Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop - I wouldn't have to constantly rely on Shoprite Liquors in Freehold Township!

Forgot to add:
I LOVE the new location of the summer concert series too. I think it's good that people commuting through our town get to see firsthand that we have things going on & how Freehold is THE place to be.

Now if we could only convince the owners of the liquor store to carry a greater selection of products - like the Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop - I wouldn't have to constantly rely on Shoprite Liquors in Freehold Township! dfx We can thank Rich Gatto/Freehold Center Partnership for their work on the gazebo, curb-cut and the liquor store. Obviously, we thank the business owners for their hard work in bringing new stores to town. As to the liquor store, I find they have a pretty decent selection. You should really give it a second look. You will be happy to know that Rich Gatto/Center Partnership is also working with the store owners and hopefully will be successful in aiding them in a new business model, highlighting their wine a bit better and possibly redesigning the layout of the store. I know people don't necessarily like a liquor store at this intersection. The reality is that they are there, it's a great location and they are not going to move. Rich Gatto is working with them on developing their store and hopefully there will be positive changes that will make the store and the downtown better. You should know that the changes being made to the exterior of the store are being worked on jointly by the tenants/liquor store owner and the partnership. The owner of the building is permitting the work to be done, but the financial burden is on the tenant (I forget how long they have on their lease, but I don't think it was too much more time, so these changes reflect a deep commitment). I think that the tenant's willingness to work with the partnership (and therefore the town) is a great step and shows that they want to do the right thing. I commend them, and the last time I was in the store I gave them encouragement and told them I had heard about the exterior changes and thought very well of the proposals. (Hint to others: give these guys some words of encouragement so they continue to make more positive changes.) So, I'll repeat: As to the liquor store, I find they have a pretty decent selection. You should really give it a second look.

I agree with your above post and it is good to see all of the above going on. I am happy with the arrival of both RU Music and the dance studio, we are patrons of both.
