Barbara McMorrow to become GOP committee member in Freehold township.... www.politickernj.com/mcmorrow-assume-freehold-twp-committee-seat-republicanIn a sign of a Democratic Party floundering to stand upright in the aftermath of Gov. Chris Christie's overwhelming victory here last year, former Monmouth County Freeholder Barbara McMorrow wants to get back into elected office - as a Republican. The first Democrat to break the GOP stranglehold on the freeholder board in 2006, and launch what became the briefest of Dem majorities in 2008 before she cited health issues in her resignation amid back stories of her fighting with Democratic Party leadership, McMorrow intends to occupy the Freehold Twp. Committee seat of Mayor Dorothy Avallone, who retired last week. "I'm assuming she'll be sworn in at the next committee meeting," an approving Avallone told PolitickerNJ.com. Other Republicans also embraced the former Democratic freeholder director, whom Avallone confirmed as having changed parties. "I like the news very much," said Freeholder John Curley, who described McMorrow's recent party switch as "well known in Republican Party circles. "She's certainly very well liked," added Curley, who last year defeated Middletown Committeeman Sean Byrnes, who subbed for the ailing McMorrrow. Crestfallen Monmouth County Democratic Party sources said they learned yesterday of the news following sightings of McMorrow happily campaigning with Freeholder Rob Clifton and his freeholder running mate, Neptune Mayor Tom Arnone.

I had heard rumblings of McMorrow's party switch quite some time ago. Either way, I know she is a very popular person in this town and I am sure that many will wish her well. It is good to see her back in public service, though not for teh borough. In another note, there are rumbling sin the air that a new law suit has been filed against the borough and the partnership. It is alleged to be about 50 property owners. Details are sketchy at this time. On a more fun note, I started a group on facebook called Founding Fathers of America. It is meant to be fun and educational. Anybody with a facebook account is welcome to join. Last week I started the group with Ben Franklin. This week I am highlighting John Jay. www.facebook.com/?sk=2361831622#!/group.php?gid=132367986801132

As you know -- a new campaign of disdain and misinformation is under way against this site, Brian, and me. Apparently, we only ever support republicans. That was news to me -- and former dem Barbara McMorrow too I am sure.

As you know -- a new campaign of disdain and misinformation is under way against this site, Brian, and me. Apparently, we only ever support republicans. That was news to me -- and former dem Barbara McMorrow too I am sure. I have voted for McMorrow every time she ran as a Dem. Now that she is GOP, I can't vote for her! AS far as that campaign against us Rich, I deleted the thread I started over the week end. When seeing such nonsense, it is so tempting to correct the record and rebut the lack of facts. After thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that it is a waste of time- and I really don't have the time. The first reason for that conclusion is that the attacks come from a bitter former councilman who simply has an ax to grind. In context, that is not a person looking for reasonable back and forth discussion, the very thing we promote here. I also thought further about the initial post. What does it really accomplish? People who read that and read this site will already have their minds made up either for or against this site. People who read that post on FinNJ and don't read this site and come here for the first time will see something very different that what was said. They will see a raving review of the HPC house tour, a write up on Ralph's ice cream, a write up about the new music store on Main, a very complimentary post I made about a Dem council person, and some heated anti GOP opinions which were uncensored and welcomed here. The fact is, last election day the real Freehold Voice spoke- the voters- and they put that councilman in his place- last place. It was a freaky election, no question. But one fact remains. He went from being a strong first place candidate to dead last in one election cycle. He did that to himself, nobody else did. He is simply looking for bad guys to put down when he need look in the mirror. He see GOP conspiracies under every rock where none exist. He and his small bad of sock puppets are going to be sorely disappointed this election year when they see that I am still not in the GOP and I will not be endorsing any candidate. As a matter of fact, one of the Dems this year is Sims, a person who I hold in high regard, have complimented many times, and respect. I have never uttered a bad word about him. Anyway, I will allow Mr. Last place to wallow in his paranoia, enough has already been spent on him. I have good posts about our town to get to.
