Visitors and residents of downtown Freehold have certainly become used to the increasing quality of music in town. Between the summer concert series, Freehold Idol, open Mic night at Zebu Forno, the entertainment gazebo and much more, there is plenty of entertainment to be found surrounding the bustling restaurant businesses the town has to offer. Inspired musicians need not walk any further than 23 West Main Street if they wish to learn how to play their own instrument.
As of July 1st, Freehold Borough now has its own music store. RU Music is the newest addition to down town Freehold after moving out of the Freehold Raceway Mall. In a phone interview with store owner, identified as Steve, who was more than happy to provide some info on the store, we found out about this new business.
Asked why he came to the borough he replied that his lease at the mall was up and he really wanted to get away from it to become more of his own boss again. Steve has owned and operated music stores for over twenty years. He also mentioned that he is attracted to the nice down town feel of Freehold Borough, describing it as having a nice vibe to it.
Steve mentioned that he hopes to become well integrated with down town. He beamed with pride when mentioning past give aways that he has done, which includes keyboards and guitars.
RU Music is a complete music store, selling many instruments including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums and several band instruments. The store also offers lessons on most instruments. AS a plus, RU Music is bringing an established student body of about 200 current students.
The store also has a nice and interesting selection of sheet music.
For more information, visit the store at 23 West main Street ( next to Bella Rosa ) or call 732- 462-9400
Store hours are Tuesday - Saturday from 1 PM - 9 PM and Sunday 12 PM -5 PM
