There are many things that have become reality that were first discussed openly on this site. I think part of that is due to the fact that it is well established that many active people in town read and like this site. Now I will introduce a new idea, one that I spoke with fellow residents about just this past week and was well received. As usual, I do not care about credit. Credit will go to who ever likes the idea, builds on it and gets it done.
How many times have we heard borough residents complain that they do not like Kruise Night? I am not one of those residents, but I know I have heard it often enough. Some people do not like the noise, congestion and other aspects of it.
So why not do an anti-Kruise Night? Something geared toward the residents who want to relax and enjoy their town? Here is what I propose:
For starters, one Sunday a month, close down Main Street to vehicle traffic. Encourage borough residents to walk or bike town. There would, of course, still be parking off of Main for visitors.
Sunday would be good for the church crowd who would be there to enjoy a stroll down town on a quiet day and visit the restaurants.
The question is, what other activities could be done to enhance this concept?
How about street musicians ( no amps) or artists? Enhance the cultural and arts community in town with this.
How about a monthly farmers market that occurs at a time when borough residents can actually go?
Anybody else have ideas on how to make this a nice community day for borough residents? Just once a month, for the people in our town.
