Freehold Music and Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio will present “Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio” in concert. This interactive solo piano concert series will feature the piano artistry of Louis Landon and Greg Maroney.
Launched in August 2003, “Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio” is an Internet radio broadcast that has become immensely popular. “Whisperings” piano concerts are known for their intimacy, energy and humor as the artists share the stories of the life events that inspired their original compositions.
The show has vaulted a community of artists, long since forgotten about by major record labels, back into the ears of consumers. The program enjoys the participation of more than 180 pianists and composers from around the world and is enjoyed by nearly a million listeners a month, according to a press release.
“A Whisperings concert is an event,” Whisperings founder David Nevue said. “It is a montage of personalities, performance styles, humor and joy.”
Every Whisperings concert features live performances of not only the music typically heard on the broadcast, but the stories behind the songs as told by the composers. Laughter, improvisation and audience participation are all part of the show.
Nevue added, “We encourage families to come, especially if you have kids who are aspiring pianists. After the concert, parents will be delighted to find their kids practicing the piano with renewed enthusiasm. Even if you don’t consider yourself a fan of piano music, you are going to be surprised how much you enjoy the concert.”
All are invited to attend the concert at 7 p.m. April 17 at Freehold Music, 3681 Route 9 north, Freehold Township. There will be a meet and greet with the artists afterward.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.solopianoradio.com/events.htm, 800- 838-3006. For more information, send an email to louis@louislandon.com or visit www.SoloPianoRadio.com.
