Finally! A write up! Again, I strongly encourage people to attend this: newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2010-04-14/Front_Page/Community_invited_to_safety_forum.htmlCommunity invited to safety forum BY CLARE MARIE CELANO Staff Writer FREEHOLD — Borough officials are continuing to offer programs that aim to help ensure the safety of residents. The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee will host a free safety forum for all residents at 6 p.m. April 22 in the Freehold High School auditorium, Robertsville Road. Borough Councilman Jaye Sims, who is the liaison to the Human Relations Committee, said attendees will learn from police, fire and first aid personnel about how to take easy steps to ensure safety in their home and what to do in case of certain accidents. “Modern lifestyles are hectic as people are busier than ever managing their jobs, homes and families,” Sims said. “Learning easy ways to protect your home, property and families from potential hidden dangers and threats is priceless security. “We are committed to ensuring that all of our residents are empowered to lead their lives in a safe, healthy and happy manner. A little knowledge and practice can go a long way toward accomplishing this,” Sims said. Ricky White, who chairs the Human Relations Committee, said he is looking forward to the safety forum. “We believe it is very important for our citizens and those in surrounding communities to be informed of the many ways they can be safe in various situations,” White said, giving as one example the importance of providing escape routes in the event of a home fire. “You cannot be too careful. We will also have a presentation on bicycle safety, drug dependency and addiction. There will also be a presentation about Internet safety. “The Internet is a very important tool for kids, but there are predators there. We need to protect and educate our children any way we can against these predators,” White said. White, who is a minister at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Throckmorton Street, said there will also be a presentation about provisional licenses for teenage drivers.
