newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2010-04-07/Front_Page/Community_relations_committee_formed.htmlFREEHOLD — The Freehold Borough K-8 School District has announced the creation of a Community Relations Committee. The committee will be led by Board of Education members Mike Lichardi, Annette Jordan and Dan Xavier. “The paramount issue before the new Community Relations Committee is fostering a more meaningful dialogue between the school district and the community,” Xavier said. “We need to work harder at talking about the goals and accomplishments of the school district, educating the public about the budget process, discussing community concerns, and answering the questions of our neighbors. “This committee and its members will establish a more meaningful, informative conversation between the district and the community, and we look forward to the work ahead,” he said. According to a press release, the committee will work to foster improved communication about goals, accomplishments and efforts undertaken by the school district. Additionally, a regularly updated committee blog is also planned to provide weekly updates and feedback about school news. A print newsletter completes the committee’s communication trifecta to ensure those without access to the Internet are kept up to speed about school district news and events. “The creation of the Community Relations Committee will allow us to better inform and listen to the community, and open up the lines of communication with local media,” Jordan said. I want to revive this thread as a follow up. I just posted the story about the regional cuts and really have the urge for some good news.
How is this committee doing? What measures have been taken to follow the items listed in the article?
For one, I would like to see more good news stories hitting the public arena, including on this site.
