NPC Announces Deadline for Project Applications

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Freehold Borough Neighborhood Pride Committee has announced the deadline for applications for two community projects.

The Community Garden has quite a few plots available for amateur gardeners seeking to create and cultivate flowers, herbs or vegetables in the garden located on Ford Avenue and Lloyd. Applications for your plot need to be filled out and submitted to Freehold Borough Clerk’s office at Borough Hall, 51 West Main Street. The applications are available at www.bettertheboro.com and at Borough Hall. Deadline for submission is March 15th. Fee for your 10’ x 10’ plot is $20.

The WorldChangers, back for their third year, will be ready to work on selected owner-occupied homes during the early July for four days. Projects of all sizes will be considered. Projects may include painting, house repairs indoor and outdoor, and roofing; but will not include plumbing or electricity. There is no fee for applications, which are also available at www.bettertheboro.com and at Borough Hall.

“The Neighborhood Pride Committee has proven itself vital to the community of Freehold Borough, and the past successes of both the Community Garden and the WorldChangers will make their 2010 projects even more lively and inclusive,” says Councilman Kevin Kane, the council liaison to the Neighborhood Pride Committee. “We urge all residents who want to participate in both these two projects to obtain and fill out their applications, and submit them no later than March 15. We will ensure, to the best of our ability, that no one gets turned away.”

Good post, I just moved it to the NPC section of this site where it really belongs. This will bring people to this section where they can read up on the past of the NPC and see all the good it has done. One of the really nice features of this site is that it serves as a good archive for future reference to those who want it.

I don't understand what made you change your mind about getting a plot or two, whether someone offended you or not, it hurts Freehold and the other volunteers that you don't want to do this. I think you would have a lovely garden, a great new addition to a success last year! Its a shame, I wish you would change your mind!

Mike, this is an obvious reference to the complaint I aired out elsewhere.

I will partly answer your question here as well as a couple you asked elsewhere.

Yes, I seriously considered a plot or two this year. I DO SUPPORT the NPC, its volunteers and what they have done. I have NEVER bashed them.

The fact is, Mike, I have been volunteering in other endeavors for quite some time. I never speak about them because I do not volunteer my time to promote myself. I actually consider volunteerism to be a personal and quiet thing. ( Being on a town committee is a bit different because it is public, so I did speak of that)

I am simply staying away from municipal committees and parties for a while. I have found too much division, ego, and territorialism in all of them. There is way too much of that in this town and I do not find it healthy. I am NOT pointing that finger at any one person, party or group either.

I will continue my efforts in other things where I can simply do good things with good people. That is all I ever wanted. I enjoy this town and will continue to contribute, as I have been for several years.

Besides, I bet the NPC rents ALL of their plots this year. Wanna make a gentleman's bet? I will by you a beer at the AH if they don't.

I'm sure you do volunteer alot, as do many, they all should be applauded! Volunteering is what you want it to be, We all do things without a "pat on the back" because we want to, thats, atleast I think, the reason you do it!

Anyway, just was hoping you changed your mind on the plot, gentlemens bet is on!
