Forceful winds leave Freehold roads snow-covered

FREEHOLD — Plows and spreaders were out, but steadily falling snow, a below-freezing temperature and wind of more than 20 miles per hour left roadways snow-covered and slippery before dawn Saturday, here.
In the Freehold area, about 4 to 6 inches of snow had fallen by 5:15 a.m., with another 3 to 7 inches expected before the snowfall was to stop around noon.
The force of the wind could be seen in snow blowing sideways and flags fully extended. That, combined with the snow, left faces stinging.
Aside from snowplows, the roads were pretty much empty.
