This past Sunday, the wife and I decided to check out the monthly breakfast buffet at the K of C. Being on tight budget and knowing proceeds would go to a good cause, how could we go wrong?
For seven dollars each, we ate plenty of good food. The K of C are very friendly people who welcome visitors in their doors.
By chance I wound up sitting at the same table as Councilman Schnurr and his family. The councilman and I had a nice discussion about a few things. More importantly he filled me in on a few nice details about that mornings breakfast.
Geo is a member of that council. The K of C will pick a cause that they believe needs help and give the proceeds to that cause. The proceeds of this breakfast went to the Freehold Borough PBA. Geo told me that was done in recognition of the great work and dedication the police officers in our town are well know for. Geo recapped the immense success of the Santa Train. Supposedly, that event was so good that police officers running it had to run out and pick up more supplies during the event. They paid for that out of their pockets. The K of C felt it was well worth giving back to the PBA. I also noted that many of our police officers were there enjoying a good breakfast as well as many people from around the area. Attendance was very good.
So there you have it. Geo and I sitting at the same table, civil community discussions, and the K of C helping our PBA who has done a lot for our town. If that ain't unity in our community, nothing is.
