FREEHOLD — Police arrested three borough men on drug charges and seized cocaine, marijuana and cash from a Conover Street home, authorities said.
Police began an investigation about a month and a half ago, after getting a tip from a concerned citizen, said Lt. Mark Wodell.
Around 6:30 p.m. Friday, with help from other officers, Patrolman James Richmond and Detective Chris Otlowski executed a search warrant at a Conover Street duplex, police said.
Police said they arrested three men, in the basement: Oscar Lazo-Garcia, 24, who lived in the home, Gustavo Lopez, 21, of Clinton Street, and Angel Mendoza-Mejia, 29, of Sheriff Street.
In the basement, police found a large bag of cocaine and three smaller bags of the drug, said Wodell. They also seized a large, vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana and five smaller bags of that drug, he said.
They confiscated a couple of thousand of small bags used to package drugs, and more than $1,200 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.
Lazo-Garcia, Lopez and Mendoza-Mejia were each charged with possession of cocaine and more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of both drugs with intent to distribute in a school zone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three men are being held at the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township, with bail set at $35,000 each. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also issued detainers for the three men.
