As it was mentioned in another post, I have resigned my spot on the BOE effective today, September 1, 2009.
The BOE is now searching for a replacement to fill this spot. If anyone is interested, please contact the Business Administrator's office at 732-761-2105.
The BOE will be looking for applications until around Sept. 18th so that an interview and appointment can take place before the October School Board Workshop down in Atlantic City.
Again, please, anyone interested in filling this spot, please contact the District's Business Administrator's office.
This spot will be temporarily filled, and then will be up for election in April's vote.
In the April election, there will be a total of 5 seats on the BOE up for election. The three 3-year term positions that are normally up each year (this year Annette Jordan, Audrey Evans, and Eileen McGough are up for re-election); a 2-year seat filled earlier in the year by Ron Reich (who will be running for re-election); and the 1-year spot which I have just resigned from.
It's important to note that all seats are typically 3-year terms, but due to resignations, these other 2 seats are shorter terms in order to get them back into the cycle which allows the BOE to have three 3-year seats up for election each year.
Any questions, just ask anyone either in the District's Administrative office, or a BOE member.

I like the first line in this article. Lets hope the replacement is someone who will break ranks on occassion too. www.app.com/article/20090901/NEWS/90901118/-1/FRONTTABS01/Freehold+school+board+member+resignsFREEHOLD — A borough Board of Education member who has broken ranks with his colleagues in the past resigned from his post due to a pending move overseas. Borough school board members accepted Andrew DeFonzo's resignation Monday. DeFonzo, a Republican, also had been running for a seat on the Borough Council. He has withdrawn from that race, he said Monday. DeFonzo, 35, was recently rehired by Turner Construction to work as a project superintendent in its international division. He will be moving to Vietnam to help build apartment complexes, a job that will keep him abroad for at least two years, he said. "I'm excited," DeFonzo said. But DeFonzo's imminent departure leaves gaps in both the school board and the Borough Council race. The board must appoint DeFonzo's replacement within 65 days of his resignation, according to schools Business Administrator Patrick DeGeorge. DeFonzo's resignation went into effect Tuesday. Ted Miller, the head of the local Republican club, would not say Monday whether someone will replace DeFonzo on the Borough Council ballot. An announcement will be made later in September, said Miller, who is also running for a seat on the council. DeFonzo is the second school board member to resign this year. Newly elected member Reginald Sims quit in May, citing personal and work concerns. Kim Predham: 732-308-7752 or kpredham@app.com
