It was mentioned in another thread that the Community Information Committee ( CIC ) had a table out on the National Night Out event, One of the big themes that the CIC is pushing for is volunteerism in the borough. There was information made available to the public intended to create awareness of what is available and how to get involved.
This is a part of an ongoing effort that the CIC is engaged in. The committee will also have a table out on the August Kruise Night with the same information available for the public.
Among the many efforts the CIC will be engaging in to increase volunteerism there is a volunteer fair being planned. Keep an eye out for the press releases.
These initiatives have been brought to the table by councilman Sims. Early in the year he expressed a number of ideas for this cause. While emphasis will be on getting more people interested in serving on town committees, there will also be information on other volunteer opportunities for non profit and non political groups. All the volunteer efforts will revolve around Freehold Borough.
I put this post up as an early reminder of what is to come. Volunteering is well worth the time. It is well worth it to get out and meet your fellow town residents who also care about helping out and bettering our town.

Non-profit groups sought for Freehold Volunteer Fair
FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ Brian Sullivan, chairman of the Community Information Committee, and Kevin Asadi, Chairman of the Freehold Volunteer Fair, announced that the first annual Freehold Volunteer Fair is seeking interested not-for-profit and other civic and community groups to take part with a free table at the event.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Hall of Records Parking Lot in the center of Downtown Freehold. Rain date is scheduled for the following Sunday, Oct. 25.
“The goal of this event is to bring opportunities for both the groups and organizations and interested residents who want to join and be a part of something special,” says Sullivan. “An event that showcases various entities that thrive from volunteer talent and work in one central location will be very attractive to residents who want to get involved but don't know what's available to them or how to go about it. The Freehold Borough Volunteer Fair makes it easy for all involved.”
Groups to participate are the various Freehold Borough committees and commissions, civic groups and other not-for-profit groups dedicated to improving quality of life and fun in Freehold Borough.
Interested groups may contact either Brian Sullivan at (732) 567-2884 or Kevin Asadi at (732) 322-8598.
