Couple of other interesting tidbits about the election...
Support for Moses must have been very strong. There were Moses signs on lawns in the township where they did not even get to vote for him.
We have a site participant, Bonnie Sue. She ran in Marlboro and won. Congrats Bonnie Sue!
MARLBORO (3 three-year terms) ¡Ì [glow=red,2,300]BonnieSue Rosenwald [/glow]¡ª 1,011 Victoria Dean ¡ª 776 Edwin Madari ¡ª 635 Joel Golub* ¡ª 946 ¡Ì Raymond Eng* ¡ª 1,519 ¡Ì Paula Fasciano ¡ª 1,136 Stacey Kleinstein ¡ª 740
And one last thing I have to mention. Last night when I voted, there were kids with chaperons at the door greeting voters and directing them to where they need to go. It was very...cute. Nice touch that made me happy to vote.

Sims - out! B.O.E. now accepting applications. New member quits school boardMay 28, 2009 FREEHOLD: Newly-elected member Reginald Sims resigned from the local school board Wednesday night for what he said were personal reasons. "I just figured it would be best to slide out for now and get my personal issues in order . . . I need to devote some time to my family," Sims said Thursday. Those issues and a recent transfer at work led to his decision to leave the Freehold Borough School District's board of education, Sims said. The school board must now pick Sims's replacement within 60 days of his resignation, Board President Annette Jordan said. Members of the public are invited to submit applications. Board members will then interview candidates and choose a new member, Jordan said. No one has stepped forward yet, Jordan said Thursday. Sims was the top vote getter in April's school board elections. He and two challengers — Michael Lichardi and Maureen MacCutcheon — beat out long-time incumbents Ronald Reich and Victoria Muller. www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009905280369

Lauren, Thank you for taking the time to patrol the BOE site and bring us this link. It is important to get it out there. I have to first say, Reggie's resignation is a surprise. I think we should all wish him the best. He has been active in our town in a number of positive ways. He is obviously well respected. I do not know him, but have never heard anything but the best. I do know his brother Jaye and he is a very good person with high character and integrity. As we saw in this thread, Reggie's received a very strong endorsement from Rich. It was clear that the voters liked him too by the fact that Reggie's received the most amount of votes. That brings be to my next point. In this past election, the voters sent a message. A strong one. The fact that the budget passed tells me that the parents showed up in number to vote. That means they were the ones who ousted the incumbents. I do not know why, but there has to be a reason that must be respected. The BOE would be very wise to avoid appointing any of the incumbents who were bounced. The BOE must make every effort to respect the wishes of the voters and put a fresh face up there. To do otherwise will be a smack in the face of our democracy. I hope the BOE gets flooded with applications. We don't need to see old faces back up there.
