This info comes from a couple of different sources....... freeholdvoice.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=main&action=display&thread=4045In the above thread, I had mentioned the International conference that the Metz museum is hosting in the summer. From what I understand, people visiting the town for this event have already booked rooms at the American Hotel, which is slated to open in June. If this is true, it is a very nice start for the AH. This again illustrates how odd it is that the museum attracts people from all over the world, yet, so many borough residents have not been to this museum. It is worth the time. Allegedly, Kruize Nite is in some hot water -again. there appears to be some ado over funding. Lets hope this is not a big deal and is handled better than last years Donnybrook. There has also been rumor of a Jazz festival. That too appears up in the air. Lets hope it happens. It would be great for our town. And last but not least. Word on the street is that a local, well known name, will be seriously considered for the Democrat ticket in this years Freeholder race. This one, if true, could make life interesting.

This one, if true, could make life interesting. ONE Freeholder seat is up for election, is McMarrow not running? Not Running McMarrow would be a mistake.

That is why its called word on the street, it may not be all accurate. Personally, I put faith in readers to make up their own minds.

Not sure who your street-whisperer is, but Kruise Nite is not in any hot water, all is well there. Yes we are working with some sort of blues-jazz festival -- this is a herculean task, especially for a first-time host (FB/FCP). But it is looking good and as soon as it is set in stone, or not, that news will be shared. All of the above comes from a couple of different street whispers. Every now and then, it is good to air these things out and see if the truth can come to the surface. thanks for your response, it is enlightening.

And last but not least. Word on the street is that a local, well known name, will be seriously considered for the Democrat ticket in this years Freeholder race. This one, if true, could make life interesting. In reference to the above, a reader sent me this article. Though dated a couple weeks ago, it is an interesting read and feeds the whispers that I have mentioned. www.politickernj.com/wallye/27320/despite-3-2-democratic-majority-republicans-still-control-monmouth-freeholder-boardMonmouth County Democrats believed they had won control of the Board of Freeholders last November after a recount gave Democrat Amy Mallet a 346 vote victory over Republican John Curley, but a rivalry between the other two Democratic Freeholders appears to have returned control of county government to the Republicans. Freeholder Director Barbara McMorrow does not get along with Freeholder John D'Amico; as a result, McMorrow has formed an alliance with Republicans Robert Clifton and Lillian Burry that has allowed the GOP to keep many of their people in place, even though they are in the minority. This has frustrated some state party leaders, including Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan. Democratic sources say that McMorrow, who was the first Democrat to win a Monmouth Freeholder race in twenty years, has not yet decided if she will seek re-election to a second term this year. There was some speculation that she might switch to the GOP, but some of her allies say that won't happen. Republican sources acknowledge that she has been asked. Democrats suggest that despite frustrations with her bi-partisanship, she remains their strongest candidate. Clifton and D'Amico is up in 2010, and Burry and Mallet in 2011. The conventional wisdom in Monmouth is that D'Amico has bullied McMorrow and seems to believe that he is in charge. Their two styles, one Monmouth Democratic source says, don't mix well. Mallet appears to be aligned with D'Amico, a former Superior Court Judge and State Parole Board Chairman who served briefly as a Freeholder and State Senator in the 1980's.

I really have a problem with this article you posted, Brian. It annoys me. "Clifton and D'Amico is up in 2010..." Was the editor asleep? It should be: "Clifton and D'Amico are up in 2010..." Whaddya expect from these web sites? They are all full of nonsense. ;D

one person questioned it on nj.com stating there are 6 less police officers. No one else said it won't happen. My post and another person's post stated that it will happen.
Other posters questioned other aspects of Cruise Night.
Cool your jets, Chair of the Marketing Committee.

why don't you tell us what is planned, when the first cruise night is, etc. - rather than racing your engine and going nowhere.
Are there any changes to Cruise Night that you care to inform the public about?

Olive Garden has backed out of the Jersey Freeze property, instead going over to the Wal-Mart property on Rt. 537. No word on what may come in their place, or what may happen with the liquor license. Not sad to hear this, another season of Jumbo Dogs suits me fine.

There is tremendous BS on the NJ.Com Forum under Freehold where some troublemakers are trying to spread false rumours about problems that threatened Kruise Nite. As some of you know I am chair of the marketing committee for the Freehold Center Partnership and can assure that this event was not threatened to be cancelled this year. They simply renegotiated certain elements that needed to be addressed; this was done swiftly, early and amicably. I would heartily suggest that people do their research before they post rumors and innuendo, as it may potentially drive away a number of people (pun intended) from our downtown. This post really nailed it and explains the exact intent of my original post- to confront rumor and make every honest attempt at putting them to rest. Or finding they are right, what ever the case may be. If something is false, it is far better to look it dead in the eye and address it than to allow it to fester here or anywhere. Your subsequent responses are great and a big help. This also isn't the first time this site has squashed rumors form other sources. It won't be the last. This is the value of being open and honest, just what this site is dedicated to. When I put something like this up here, I make it clear that it is rumor. I have faith that people will take for what it is until the facts come out. People should also notice, I do not post names with these whispers.

Well, my jets are still smoking hot. See, when you volunteer to commit your efforts to committees geared to attract people to town, and there's some deliberate propaganda to get people to reconsider, it bothers me. I know what you do and your efforts are magnificent. You do a lot for this town. Don't let these type of things get to you too much. Dealing with public opinion etc can be a real SOB. I know, I have been in the pubilc eye for almost twenty years. I wouldn't call what you refer to as propaganda. It looks more like people are misinformed. That can be corrected. Your posts on this subject have been great.

And I agree, another season of jumbo dogs and ice cream is good with me too.
