I wanted to post this link here on the Freehold Voice... www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?zone=103Donors.org is a website that gives teachers who are trying to run special projects in their classroom a way to help raise the funding for those projects. The link I provided gets you to the general search page...from there you can get to specific projects for the Freehold Boro Elementary District (there are currently 11 that are looking for funding). I have used this site before, it's a nice way to give to specific projects that you might feel deserve some support. I am not asking anyone to donate...I am just putting up the link, and letting you all decide for yourselves.

www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?keywords=freeholdThis shows 11 projects (the number Andrew stated). when you click on the project, you'll get more info and detail and you can verify there that it is a boro classroom you are supporting. from the site: "Concerned individuals fund the student projects of their choice—in whole or in part—and are emailed immediate email gift acknowledgments from DonorsChoose.org which can be used for tax deduction purposes."

When posts like this are put up here, it is often hard to find out if they produce any results. Sometimes it is hard to find out how well the cause in question is doing in gaining donations. The recent post about the Masons toy drive was a really nice follow through to see, though we will never know if this site helped at all. Andrew, in the case of your post, and likely with the assistance of Novilleros search, I did get some credible information that your post helped at least one of the teacher projects. www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=233324&verify=-1478445064&zone=0The above link is for a teacher identified as Mr. G. He is seeking assistance in buying more violins for his music students to practice on. As I understand it, an anonymous person saw this post and is donating not just money to this project, but a violin.

There is a website called freecycle.com where people give and get "free" stuff from each other. It is not a site for people looking to make money, or is a site for people to sell items. It is a list of people (e-mail list) who would rather given and get for free instead of throwing "trash" away. (Trash in quotes, because one man's trash is another man's treasure.) Perhaps it would be a wise idea for Mr. G, and other teachers who are in need of items that are easily located in the community to post on freecycle. I belong to it, and have given and got. Be warned that the posts are very frequent, and anyone joining shoul request the "digest" format instead of receiving each freecycle e-mail individually.

Since last I posted, two more borough teachers have had projects full funded. Several others ( including myself www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=246261) have posted new projects. This is an optimum time for Monmouth COunty teachers to write proposals since we receive half funding from the Monmouth County Community Foundation of New Jersey while funds last!

Since last I posted in February, 2 more FLC teachers have had grants funded. We are very excited to be able to provide extras for the Freehold Borough children through the generosity of these donors. If you would like to see which borough teachers still need funding you can click on the following link www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?keywords=Freehold+Borough&x=11&y=12There are currently six Freehold Borough teachers seeking funding.

Due in part to the generosity of the Monmouth County Community Foundation( see link)http://www.cfnj.org/affiliates/monmouth/grants/ which has pledged up to 25,000 in matching funds to Monmouth County teachers writing grants at donorschoose.org, five more Freehold Borough teachers' grants have been funded! (including another one of mine!!) As fast as we can write them, they are being filled. What a wonderful benefit for our children.

A quick update on the donors choose site..... last year I was able to procure over $1,700 in additional classroom materials for my classroom and I was only one of many borough teachers who benefited in this fashion. (One of my colleagues at FLC had 7 separate grants funded!) Teachers at all three of our public schools -FIS, PAE and FLC- have been able to enrich our students' experiences with funding from this site. Thank you Freehold Voice for being an active supporter of this endeavor. I am truly grateful.

I always love these posts and can only hope that the FV has played at least a small role in helping you and the students. Brian

Since my last update a former Freehold resident AND a current Freehold resident made generous contributions to two of the currently posted grants. I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the generosity of this little town. Freehold Borough is truly a unique and wonderful place to live!

Thanks Brian! You will be happy to hear that yet another grant has been funded this week. I have two more out there but I am in the happy position of running out of things to request! This is just such an incredible resource for our teachers.
