FREEHOLD — The borough's comprehensive Internet Web site may be up and running by the end of the year, according to Lisa Schofield, a member of the Community Information Committee.
At the Nov. 17 meeting of the Borough Council, Schofield brought municipal officials up to date on what the committee has accomplished in 2008. She thanked Brian Sullivan, who chairs the committee, for all of his hard work.
Schofield said she is "proud to be a part of this important community relations committee whose goal is to pull together and unify this wonderful community."
The panel's efforts this year included producing press releases for various events and committees, she said. Freehold Borough's Web site is another item that has been addressed. Committee members looked at what other towns are doing on the Internet and started to plan the type of Web site the borough could use.
She said Web site developer Bruce Posner has been helping to make certain the site will operate correctly. It is anticipated that the Web site will be completed before the end of the year, she said.
Also on the committee's list of things to accomplishwas producingwhat Schofield referred to as a resident resource packet.
"Considered the sister project of the Web site, this is another project that entailed a great deal of research," Schofield said, adding that Sullivan and Lisa Kristiansen, who is a real estate professional, were of great help in that endeavor. "Lisa provided a great framework for this. At this point it is a matter of filling in some missing information."
It is expected that the resident resource packet will be completed in the near future, she said. The packet will be offered to current and prospective residents and provide useful information about the borough.
Schofield said committee member Alan Goldberg, who is a professional photographer, has done an outstanding job of photographing many borough events. She said Goldberg has provided the committee with an impressive archive of photos.
She said the committee is working to host a fair that will allow residents to meet the people who serve on the panel and to see how they can get involved with various volunteer projects and organizations.
Councilman Marc Le Vine noted that Councilman Jaye Sims, who is the governing body's liaison to the committee, has contributed to its initial efforts. He thanked the members of the Community Information Committee for their dedication and hard work.
