I was at Monday's council meeting when Jim McAllister of the Freehold First Aid Squad made a chilling and compelling appeal. Their fundraising efforts have drawn woeful declilning numbers. In 2007, the fundraising efforts received a 23 percent response, compared to this year's 14 percent response - a decline of 9 percent.
The organization also needs good volunteers. Know of anyone who wants to help make a difference?
Freehold First Aid, which covers the Township and the Borough, is a free service for those patients who need first responder care and transport to the hospital. I have a feeling that CentraState is salivating here, hoping it would close its doors (FFAS has been operating, saving thousands of lives since 1941) -- so they can charge and make money.
When healthy, we don't think of the necessity for this service, but the a falll off a ladder, a baby choking, a heart attack, etc., happens, these folks are saviours, plain and simple.
Please, let's keep our real saviours operating. Spread this message and donate.
Keep it free, keep it Freehold.

Oh, by the way, if any of you have any good/creative ideas of what this organization can do to raise funds, as well as attract volunteers, please post them.
This is the true beauty of a community board such as this. Forget the election and politics for a few moments.
Thanks.

Lisa,
Thanks for the heads up. This is the type of stuff we need to hear and see posted. It is a very good reminder.
