FREEHOLD — The Monmouth County Board of Freeholders launched a new Web site Tuesday that is designed to provide easier access to services and has several new features, including a link for residents to e-mail individual freeholders.
Minutes of the freeholder meetings will be posted on the Web site. The minutes will include a link to the resolutions the board adopts.
County job openings will be listed on the Web site, and residents can subscribe through the site for automatic e-mails notifying them about meetings, press releases, newsletters and other county alerts.
"The Web site gives more information on a daily basis for people to access to find out what their county government does," Freeholder Director William C. Barham said.
Barham said the new Web site will cut down on requests for records and create "a more open form of government."
"Whatever you need is online," he said.
The new site also includes information about county road projects and detours, as well as links for mass transit. A new tourism link includes a calender of events. Information about the county budget and competitive contracts also may be downloaded. A county newsroom on the site provides access to a listing of press releases with photos. The freeholders' electronic newsletter, "Monmouth In Focus," will be posted.
Freeholder Anna Little said the site may be used to promote shared services between the 53 municipalities in Monmouth County and the county government. The site was designed by the county's department of information services.
"Our goal from the very beginning of this project," said William K. Heine, director of the Department of Public Information, "was to create an entirely new look and feel for the county's Web site."
