I know I had made a statement some time ago on this site that I would be at the Town Council meeting last night (Nov 5th).
For those of you who were at the Council meeting, who know who I am, you noticed that I was absent.
I thought about it a lot for the week leading up to the meeting...do I miss the BOE meeting in order to go down to Boro Hall?
While I know it's important for us to go down to the Council meetings and question our leaders about issues and concerns that we, as the public they have been elected to lead, may have, I obviously have another responsibility to the school board, the body to which I was elected to represent the taxpayers and parents of this town.
And so, though I wanted to be at the Council meeting, I made, what I feel, was the right decision and kept my commitment to the Board of Ed, and today, I don't regret it one bit.
There may be those who will criticize me for not showing up when I promised I would...but then again, there would certainly have been those who would have criticized me if I had shown up and missed the BOE meeting (maybe even some of the same people). Ah well...such is life...I certainly won't let it bother me.
There will be other Town Council meetings, hopefully on nights when there are not BOE meetings, and I will surely be there...not as a BOE member, but as a private citizen, voicing my concerns, offering my ideas, and expressing my thoughts about this town that I have called home for over 30 years.
