I'm sorry, but the National Day Laborer Organizing Network should only work to teach its constituents how to legally integrate into this country; learn English, learn how to properly get on the path of legal citizenship, perhaps teach better craftsman skills. They shouldnt' be wasting their time and resources on 287G which protects everyone from evildoers. I have a strong feeling the happy-go-lucky day laborers (as shown in Brian's photo) really have no clue as to what's going on and what 287G really means. How infuriating. How infuriating??www.app.com/article/20081028/NEWS/81028021Informant to take stand in Fort Dix plot trialCAMDEN — Jurors at the trial of five men accused of plotting to kill soldiers at Fort Dix are expected to hear from a paid government informant with a troublesome history today. Egyptian-born former used car dealer and convicted bank scammer Mahmoud Omar wore a wire to record more than 200 conversations during a 16-month investigation. Defense lawyers spent Monday questioning his credibility, asking his FBI handler about his pay and whether he abused drugs. They claim he helped orchestrate the plot. The government has paid him nearly $240,000 and will recommend that immigration officials offer him legal resident status.
The five suspects are all foreign-born Muslims in their 20s who spent years in Cherry Hill. Remember.... The catalyst for 287g in Monmouth County was the Fort Dix Six, the terrorist who's alleged aim was to "kill as many soldiers as possible". Some members of the Fort Dix Six have been identified as undocumented illegal aliens who are repeat criminal offenders. Sheriff Guadagno's industrious implementation of 287g through the county Corrections Department would have clearly produced early detection and deportation for some members of the Fort Dix Six terrorists. Because Monmouth County and Freehold Borough are in close proximity to Ft Dix, McGuire AFB, Earl Navel Weapons Station, Lake Hearst Navel Air Station and Ft Monmouth we need Sheriff Guadagno's 287g program. This is one reason why Freehold Borough Council Candidates Mike Lichardi and Ted Miller strongly agree with Sheriff Guadagno's implementation of 287g. It is needed to eliminate the presents of CRIMINAL-undocumented illegal-aliens (key word is CRIMINAL).

The Freehold PB along with Chief Roth did a good job managing the "Protest" and keeping it controlled and civil.
The Sheriffs office was hospitable enough to supply a few cases of Bottled water for the protesters.

I still think it was half that.

That is, if they really cared they would be doing that. Instead they are creating a bogeyman issue. The program is only for people who have been arrested and in jail already. It has nothing to do with the people on the street who may be victims of a crime, reporting crimes, or juste in the wrong place at the wrong time. It only concerns people already in the system. I can only surmise that the people organizing the protest do this for their own power, and their own political purposes. If they wanted to better any of these peoples' lives they would follow your suggestions, and more.

Oh you people -- missing my point again. The point was that the organization, if they want to care about these people, should TEACH them how to apply for legal citizenship, what to expect, how much money to save for this endeavor. I did NOT say anything about granting them the right to vote. This sentiment was to juxtapose the organization wasting time and resources to protest 287G. Cleared that one up? Oooh! I get to have fun with the wordsmith! A bit of role reversal here. ;D I think I am still missing your point. When I hear "citizen", that completely indicates the right to vote. That would be opposed to legal resident, which illegals are not. So I am nitpicking the actual words here. There is a difference in my eyes between a legal resident and a citizen. Citizens have more rights. To again, reiterate my point, I do not believe any illegal alien should be granted the right to vote. Morally and legally, illegals can be deported. To give them legal residence is a major blessing for them. To give them the right to vote, via citizenship, is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant who waited their turn as opposed to shunning our laws out of a disgusting sense of entitlement.

I went back and looked at the AP site. This topic really lit up with comments, most of which are against the demonstrators and for 287g.
