Freehold Voice Lovers and Casual Fans:
I have been so busy with grad school that sometimes I neglect my responsibilities to the message board I love more than life itself.
But, I wanted to give you -- although belated -- a report on the Latino Festival. None of you are objective enough to give a fair report.
Ms. Casual and I attended with her nephew in tow. I was stuck in the back watching the little guy go down the slide and go on a pony ride. My lovely lady was watching the entertainers -- there was some sort of Afro-Caribbean group playing when I was there.
It was crowded when I was there. Poor Muddled Brian wrote that in his drive-by of the festival he saw that it was empty. Next year you might want to set foot there to see for yourself. However, when I was there there were about 400-500 people -- maybe a little more. The crowd thinned around 6 pm. I had to leave but there was a great salsa band playing when I left.
I call on the festival organizers to include Fado next year -- Are u hearing me Novillero? I would also request an update from Freydude or Laz on the attendance and goals for next year. Slip it to me on my private email.
Did I mention:

Fado? Portuguese is not "latino." Just as spanish from Spain is not "latino."
As for the rest of your comments, I leave them to be judged by others. I know what I saw with my eyes, and I know what I heard about it.
The fact that you took so long to post on this topic reinforces my belief that you do not live in the immediate area.
Have a great day...

Casual, I as at the festival in person and your attendance estimates are quite over exagerrated. It was a nice afternoon, but be honest.

Actually, CR, we really did not discuss the LLA festival this year.
As far as your numbers, that is open to interpretation. As I did mention, I drove by around four thirty. That should have been about peek time. I saw about two hundred. That is excluding the people who were working it.
I also saw two separate sets of pics. One was on Myspace the other from a photographer who was there. None of the pictures I saw showed much of a crowd. Of course, who knows what time of the day the pics were taken.
The actual numbers are certainly open to debate, but one thing is fact, a festival of that nature should have had a far larger attendance.
As far as the title of this thread, I will have to agree. LLA fest was a raging success. They marched on our town, dragged us all through the mud, demanded a festival on Main Street and got it! I have to say kudos and a job well done to the LLA.

Freehold Voice Lovers and Casual Fans: Poor Muddled Brian wrote that in his drive-by of the festival he saw that it was empty. Next year you might want to set foot there to see for yourself. In another thread I wrote: One recent example of this is the festival this past weekend. I drove by and it was not doing well. I spoke with others who said the same. That is no fluke, It is predictable. There are better solutions, both for the Latino culture and our town. I just wonder when people will be willing to listen. Truly amazing how the almighty Casual One and his small band of followers always manage to do such a fine job of distorting people's words and only responding to part of a comment. It took me some time to find the thread where I mentioned the LLA festival. How does it go from not doing well to being empty? I never said that. Admittedly, I am comparing the LLA fest to the Italian American Fest I attended this year. The latter was four or five days long and packed with people every night. A far cry from the fiesta we had in our town. Then again, there is a difference between a bunch of old men who play cards every other night and throw a killer fest every year, as opposed to activists whose hobby has included the verbal and written beatings of many good people in our town. And isn't it amazing how the Casually blind one misses the fact that I stated there are better solutions for the Latino culture and our town? There certainly is no hostility in any of my comments toward Latino people. But that is the distortions of CR and his loyal, yet small band of renegades. Any who oppose or disagree with them are painted in a very poor light. And they do it even when we say something in favor of the Latino culture. We just can't win with these activists, can we? Right before the festival, I received two emails from one of CR's followers. A person who is a registered user of this site. I will not go into details because the content was that dishonest and not appropriate for this community site, but I would love to taste the cool aid these activists are drinking. Casually being truthful, Muddled Mod
