www.app.com/article/20081001/NEWS01/810010339/1285/LOCAL09FREEHOLD — The Fire Department will host a spaghetti dinner this Saturday for fellow fireman Michael Petrula, whose family is still recovering from a fire that broke out in their home last week. The dinner will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at American Legion Post 54, located at 62 W. Main St. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the Fire Department at (732) 462-0164. The proceeds will be donated to Petrula and his family, said Freehold Fire Department member Bobby Lithgow. Petrula, 40, of Freehold Township, is a volunteer firefighter with the East Freehold Fire Company, which serves the township east of Route 9. A fire erupted in the basement of the Petrulas' Euretta Avenue home on Sept. 22, causing severe damage and leaving the home uninhabitable, fire officials have said. Three people were in the house when the fire broke out: Petrula; his wife Kim, 38; and one son, Michael Jr. The couple have two other sons, officials have said. A dog was also in the home at the time. All evacuated safely. Another fundraiser for the Petrula, rescheduled from last week, is also to be held on Saturday. The Petrulas' neighbors, the Naspos, have organized a multi-home yard sale to be held at the corner of South Street (Route 79) and Euretta Avenue. Anyone can participate, as long as they agree to donate all proceeds to the Petrula family. Kim Predham: (732) 308-7752 or kpredham@app.com
