In recent threads we have seen some good discussions about transparent government and making our elected leaders accountable. I am opening this thread in that spirit by placing an open challenge to all borough candidates.
At the county level, the Freeholders opened the door to an independent group who reviewed the county budget and came up with about thirty suggestions for cuts and efficiency.
I challenge the borough to do the same. Open those books wide and allow for an independent review and act on suggestions accordingly.
Will the local GOP go for this and support this? I believe the schools should do the same.
This is a real issue. Any takers? We have four candidates. Lets see who grabs this and who runs from it.

Just a friendly bump, and while I am at it....
How come there is silence on the issue of not using those ugly campain signs? Will our four candidates do us all a favor and skip the pollution of our beautiful town?

Or, can they use recyclable signs?

Or, can they use recyclable signs? Well....if they must ruin our beautiful town with those ugly signs, then at least recycled ones are in the spirit of "Green Freehold"

Campaign signs are used in all races, all over. This year, you'll see tons of Obama and McCain. No political candidate from the POTUS-to-be on down to committee or council, will eschew using campaign signs.
Yes, recyclable signs are an excellent idea; may cost a little more, but the social return on investment value in today's green consciousness may be worth it.

Really? Wow. I didn't know that. I do seem to recall, however, signs for the lovely Dorothy Avallone last year, who ran unopposed, but I voted for her anyway because I really like this class act of a woman.
I am wondering if the township decided to not use signs for their own race, exactly how will it fill in that gap in the marketing toolbox? Typically in marketing, if you take one tool out, you replace it with another, to continue and further the momentum of the campaign.

It has been in the paper, usually just a little blurb.

Geo and Mike D will be recycling the campaign signs as they will be using them again in 3 years. ...and the word at Foodtown is that they are going to need those signs because a certain someone who is tied up with another organization right now, will be giving up his spot in April of '11, which will make him able to run for a town countil seat in November of '11...

What happened to MisterPr's post? It was here this morning before the crack of dawn while I was putzing around on the computer to check the days weather??
Anyhow...very flattering misterpr...but unfortunately I am not nearly popular enough in town to have such high asperations.
Though there are others who I know of in town who do have aspirations of being on the council and even the mayorship...but I won't divulge their secrets.
And one last note...it couldn't be me...I still have every confidence that Mr Miller and Mr Lichardi are going to win this year, so why would I run against them when their terms are up??

I misread both Sonny's post and MRPR's post and deleted one of them. My apologies to MRPR.
