Global warming is a very serious problem, but it’s a subset of the overpopulation problem.
One part of the equation is what people do; the other part is how many there are.
Greenies have noted the disproportionate impact of America on greenhouse emissions and rightly call for reduced emissions. But it's hypocritical to say that the problem is that Americans consume too much and then say it doesn't matter how many Americans there are.
While it may be beneficial to replace incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent light bulbs, it would be more effective to turn on the light bulbs in minds darkened by political correctness.
Immigration is the cause of population growth in America.

"Immigration is the cause of population growth in America." The only problem with that thought is at one point in time we were all immigrants

Note I was never an immigrant and it's now called climate change amongst the greenies.

Hi bergsteiger, it's nice to find someone of like mind here who understands the deep issue that overpopulation is what's causing most of the problems today. If you want to turn on some light bulbs in people's minds, the best way I know how is to get them to read Overshoot: The Ecological Basis of Revolutionary Change by William R. Catton. It's a real eye-opener and paradigm changer. It really helps you understand the science of ecology and how it relates to homo sapiens.

I do not believe all the global warming hype, and even if it is true, I am not convinced it is man made. That aside. we should be vigilant in caring for the planet and environment. Over population certainly does have a negative impact on the environment, regardless of which animal is causing the over population. Bergstieger ties this all in with immigration, but leaves entirely too many open questions. We will likely always need some immigration into the country, but what is the saturation point, and what is considered reasonable? Those questions could be debated into eternity by the various sides.
