FREEHOLD -- Engineering and consulting firm Schoor DePalma is expected to make a presentation to the Planning Board tonight on its plans for revitalization in the downtown.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 at borough hall on Main Street
Didn't know about this. It should be interesting. IF anyone gets some info, please share.

Award going to DePalma
Steve DePalma, chairman and chief executive officer of Schoor DePalma in Manalapan, will receive the Manager of the Year - Excellence in Management award from the New Jersey Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers at the annual awards dinner at the Woodbridge Hilton on Friday, May 4.
The award recognizes DePalma for setting the direction of the firm's growth, not only through the last year but throughout its history. The award also recognizes his skill and passion for engineering management, community involvement and his dedication to the progress of the engineering profession.

Someone help me out, please... This thread came up briefly a year and a half ago and was supposed to be about Schoor DePalma (with an award winning CEO apparently) presenting a plan for the "Revitalization of Downtown Freehold". No one else had any input to this thread. Then of course, a month and a half ago, we had the thread on "The Vision Study" for downtown... freeholdvoice.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=mayorandtowncouncil&action=display&thread=3850which got quite a bit of conversation flowing. This vision study was apparently presented by David Roberts, of the engineering and consulting firm CMX... not Schoor DePalma. My first question is what happened to Schoor DePalma? Did we wind up simply "wasting our money" on this firm? My second question is, does anyone know what has happened to the new vision study? When you read the two articles that were printed, one says that "Before the council will vote on the plan, the Zoning Board of Adjustment will review the report. The borough will present its plan to county officials in the near future, Higgins said." ...while the other says... "The revitalization plan calls for council members to prepare an ordinance, which would be an amendment to the town's master plan, according to Borough Administrator Joseph Bellina. After that occurs, the plan will go to the Planning Board for review and then back to the council for review and possible adoption."Let's forget about the idea that these seem to be two completely different tracks that the plan has to go through (though it would be nice to find out which is accurate), but instead let me just ask if anyone knows where this plan is right now?

IIRC (it is some time since I have paid attention to such things) adoption of a Vision Study is equivalent to a Master Plan revision, which places it under the auspices of the Planning Board for review/adoption and then to the Borough Council for their vote. The media is likely confused by the new Unified Zoning and Planning Board. (One and the same, they just wear different hats depending on the matter before them.)

Excellent...thank you... now...as to the other questions? Your question as to where the vision study stands is a good one. What can we expect next? Me thinks that would make for some good questions at a council meeting. For now, I did get a copy of the vision study. If I can get it posted I will. In the least, I will attempt to get a decent summary of what it entails.

To fiber: The RCA funding issue is really one that needs its own thread. You are providing a lot of info, but there are still many questions associated with this. In one sense, it does belong here because residential planning is mentioned in the study. But, that is only one part of the vision study, the topic of this thread.
