The most important thing anyone can do is get out and vote. No matter how you vote.
With that said, I am voting YES. I have never done that for the schools. I still believe that I am paying way too much for a service that I do not use. But, they do need help and I will do my small part.
I will save my ire for Trenton when we again vote in November. They put us in this hard place.

Congratulations to all the BOE on getting the budget passed. The battle goes on for the schools, but at least this is over for now.

Yes...ditto. Everyone worked very hard on this and Jim Keelan has, especially, impressed us all with his great Board leadership skills and his "never give up" inspirational attitude. Kudos!
Andrew - and you have also been a great communicator on this message board and a valuable BOE member. Kudos!

That Didn't happen with Fonzi Sr........!!! The only excuse for this budget passing is the poor scared parents who can't sell their homes thanks to the inaction and lackluster performance of the school board and the boro council. Ghetto schools mockingly laugh at FBoro schools. laugh at how much you will be paying, how much less you get, as more teachers will get fired, and more children get left behind! This school budget is a fraud, and what is shameful is only homeowners in the boro will continue to continue to pay, pay, pay year after year, while the non English speaking kids and their parents breed, breed, breed, day after day! I hear that the new BOE residency officer is Frank A. Fyrer, appointed by Ron Reich. Now they are true leaders!

I thought that this was an interesting comment. Here is what is currently for sale in the boro: 100 single family properties 5 condos/townhouses 10 multifamily homes 3 vacant lots. If we assume at least one person voted from each single family and condo (and assume that the multifamily homes are landlords living outside the boro), that is 105 people that voted for the budget because their home is one the market. The vote on the tax levy was 357-299 in favor and for the second question, 342-314 in favor. I guess the vote could conceivably been won by people planning to move. But, then again, it's just a theory.

But, then again, it's just a theory. Any way of knowing how many of these homes have been on the market for 6 months 12 Months, 18 Months or more? Is the single and multiple number up over the last years by why %? Anyone starting to feel like they are STUCK here now, can's sell because the market is too soft? Can the council so a survey, like the school board, to better understand what improvements would add value to a home owners desire to stay or go? Be honest, anyone looking to buy a home here WILL drive by Rita's, our wonderful 6-12 and the muster zone, and then look at the performance of our schools......what will they think about investing here! Be honest, and think like a potential home owner! www.ritasice.com/contact.htmlLook at the top photo look familiar? It would be wonderful if Ritas looked like that ALL DAY LONG, but the owners allow their property to be a muster zone "Annex". So when you dive by at 8:00 am, do you think..."How Sad, they need jobs", or do you think "WTF?...How did this happen, and why is it allow to remain such an eyesore, as well as a potential traffic problem? HOW HORRIBLE, HOW GROSS!" Can we afford to let this persist? What th CLOSING rates on homes around here, and why are there 100 home owners not at the Council meetings, and better yet, has our council reached out to these homeowner and asked them to PLEASE STAY, HERE'S OUT PLAN TO TURN THINGS AROUND!?!?! IS THERE A PLAN? WE'RE LISTENING!

We've been hovering at this number for quite some time, now. Some of the area realtors I've spoken with say this is more indicative of the real estate market - in general - then any particular trend in Freehold Borough.
Last night I spoke to a friend in West Keansburg, who has had her house on the market since the late fall for $238K. She just reduced the price by $9,000. Nothing is selling. West Keansburg is nicer than Keansburg, by the way.
Yes, Freehold Borough has some issues that should concern us - especially the schools. This is why we must work hard to remedy these things and make the town more attractive to potential LIVE-IN homeowners.

Fiber
Take a lesson from Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson.
Boycott and protest businesses that allow their property to be a defacto Muster Zone.
Hit them where it hurts, in their wallets!!!

Marc I have always been curious, over a 30 year Mortgage, the monthly payment on the $9K is $9.00 per month aprox! Is that what it comes down too, to a deal maker? If the house will not sell at $238K, I don't see how $229K helps? As a prospective home buyer, this is not significant to me, but thats me? By the way, I have used that phrase P & V too, maybe not here. Must be a Brooklyn thing ! Hawk must be another Brooklyn BOY, let him move (darn, thought I moved far enough away). ;D

In real estate terms. This is known as desparation. Gary and Maryann are great folks. Terrible house. Poor layout and needs lots of work. They have lots of financial problems due to job security and health issues. They basically abandoned the house. Can't pay the mortgage or the taxes. Moved to a tiny rental. If not sold quickly the house will bankrupt them. If sold now, for that price, they only break even with what they owe.

If not sold quickly the house will bankrupt them. If sold now, for that price, they only break even with what they owe. Marc This both saddens me and angers me, as this illustrates the BIZZARO WORLD we live in today. This is a tragic reminder that this can happen to any one of us! Loose of Job compounded by lack of health coverage when you need it most, and not having a rich uncle to bail you out! This brings up other important social issue! There are are 13 million felons that slip in to the U.S. under cover of night to hijack out low paying jobs, working here illegally raping OUR Heath Care, Social Security, Food Stamps as well as many other social benefits from OUR government, OUR GOVERNMENT is willing to do NOTHING to HELP hard working homeowners go bankrupt, and not provide adequate, life sustaining health care benefits. You are forced to giving up your home and go bankrupt so on the "books" you can now be recive "poor and destitue" health care benifits. IS THIS THE RIGHT WAY TO TREAT CITIZENS? [/color] And While Bank of America is willing to offer Credit Cards and home mortgages to the illegal- undocumented felons, Bank of America will foreclosed on good honest lawful American having a horrifically tragic life challenge! Do you need to ask why we in the Boro, as well as most (SILENT) Americans are alarmed by the flood of Illegal we have among us. The Circumstances Marc mentioned above is one hell of a reason why our government must know we had enough!(IMO) No I am not saying that the job loose and illness is caused by Illegal immigrants! THAT IS NOT WHAT I AM SAYING so that we are all clear about this message! I am saying that if the system (government and corporate) America is not willing to take care of honest, legal, hardworking Americans, why is there a rush to dole out MY greenbacks to felonious undocumented, illegal aliens unwilling to assimilate? This is the reason our schools are suffering and now we are LITERALLY paying for more and getting less, as Hawkeye had so crudely, yet correctly pointed out. How would you feel, and what would you say if that house is bought by undocumented, illegal aliens with bank financing! Or turns into BARGAIN rental property occupied by you know what! This is why we MUST go down to Washington DC on Sunday April 22nd, and say no more, this is WRONG (IMO)! www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=feettothefire07
