Meeting, Monday 4/23/07 7:30 pm Borough Hall.
This is the first meeting without the Masons (Wayne & Cheryl) chairing and in attendance, respectively. There are openings on the board to replace Ed Carroll (expert), The Masons and the soon to be departing, Matt Weismantle (moving/job transfer).
This is a very good time to begin attending meetings to see the Commission in action; determine possible interest in a Commission role; and to keep up to date on Commission activities. The meetings are interesting and informative.
I'll personally try and stop by the BOE meeting at 7pm to say farewell to Stella Mayes before heading over to the HPC. Maybe others will want to do the same. Thanks.

Marc,
A while ago you advertised for replacements. Are ther any new volunteers? Just hoping that some people have stepped forward.

We are looking for 4-5 new members for the Historic Preservation Committee. Last night, a key technical member (Architect) said he is resigning from the Commission to relocate to Florida. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Who is best:
1 - Anyone with historic preservation background. OR, 2 - Anyone with Architectural education/experience. OR, 3 - Anyone owning an older home or commercial building in FB. OR 4 - Anyone with an interest and love for older homes & buildings.

Marc,
Is there any possibility of getting a couple of the people who resigned back on board? It is a shame to see the new commission having problems so soon.

Brian:
Wanna ask them? Ed Carroll left due to a business commitment. Ken Calmus is moving to Florida. Matt Weismantle is moving closer to his wife's new job. Wayne Mason & Cheryl Wolfe... yes, they have some personal issues. We'd love to have them back and they know it. Perhaps, they might reconsider down the road.
New members. Fresh faces. Not necessarily a bad thing, either. We will survive. BUT...it would be alot easier if a few dedicated volunteers would come forward.
Thanks,
Marc

I would reach out to Peter Primavera at CRCG (Cultural Resource Consulting Group). I believe Ken Kalmis is from there. Peter is the president. He may know of people who want to get involved. You can e-mail him at pprimavera@crcg.net

Thank you Freehold Resident. I fired off the following email to Mr. Primvera. Perhaps he can help:
Dear Mr. Primavera:
We will be looking for an additional volunteer member for the Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission, with expertise in architectural historic preservation. Currently, Ken Kalmis serves in this capacity and has done an excellent job for us.
Our Commission is taking shape, nicely, and there is still much to do to move the process along for our town. We are short on the kind of expertise Ken has offered the Commission over the past couple of years and we need to be well represented in his professional category. Can you possibly recommend someone, like Ken, to fulfill our need? Meetings are once per month on Mondays. While there may be projects associated with the Commission's normal business, the time commitment is not overwhelming.
If you have any ideas or questions, please email me or call me at xxxxxxxxxxx. Thank you for your consideration, in advance.
Regards,
Marc D. LeVine Councilman, Borough of Freehold Liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission
