The Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Committee has its own web site at: historicfreehold.com/WHO KNEW? ? They have interesting and recent information about all the HP efforts around town. Good reading. FR

Tonight's HP meeting is in Borough Hall, on the second floor and in the smaller room just adjacent to the main Council meeting room.

People from the message board showed up at tonight's meeting and the Commission was thrilled to have an audience. This was the Commission's very first official meeting and they decided to meet in the main Council meeting room.
The main agenda item was nominating and electing officers. To no surprise, Wayne Mason will serve as Chairman. Dave Loring is the Vice Chair and Mark Skesavage will be the Recording Secretary.
The Commission will meet on the fourth Monday of the Month, as they have done as a Committee.
The forms to be used in cataloging buildings in the historic district was selected, for use.
The process of cataloging the actual buildings will soon be underway, with the 9 Commission members and me helping document all 160 properties in the district.
The commission also discussed it's Battle of Monmouth tour (of Freehold Borough) to be run in late June 2007.

I was one of the people who showed up last night and it was a pleasure to be there as the Historic Commission progressed in a positive direction.
I am glad to see that we have a commission of very dedicated and intelligent individuals serving our town in such a positive and much needed way.
For their first meeting they did a good job of getting things in order and they also hit the ground running with some good issues. I have confidence that the new Historic Commission will be an asset to this town with a very visible impact.

Duplicate post. Is the delete post option not functional on the board?

Was this documentation/inventory completed, and if so, is it available to the public? This is a very good question. I bet it is far along, if not done. Between Marc and the people whoa re on the committee, there is a lot of talent. I will take this a step further. All people are invited to the volunteer fair that will be in October. details will be advertised soon. All committees and commissions will be there and it will be a great time to meet the volunteers such as HPC who are doing a great job. I am sure they will be happy to answer questions like this one.

The superfluous post is the one I edited to indicate that is was a duplicate. I have had difficulties with several features on the site, but the malfunction is probably on my end... the computer I use is my employer's, not mine, and is subject to their whims regarding software and security settings. Sorry for the public gripe, it was poor form on my part.

I try to make sure this site is user friendly and welcoming to all. If there is anything I can do to help participants, I will as long as I know what needs to be done.

I will be seeing HPC members soon, so I will ask as well.
