Its fun Friday and with all our quarreling it has been awhile since we have spent time enjoying each other's cyber company.

I think it is time for a little Freehold Voice bonding.

I suggest we all look through our files for memorable quotes from Councilman Crawford over the years. There are plenty to choose from -- He has provided us with so many special moments of leadership.

When you come up with one share it with all of us. Let us celebrate the career of this fine public servant.

The Casual One in searching through his archive found this memorable quote from an April 2005 Council Meeting:

"I agree with Mayor Michael Wilson," said Councilman Crawford.

That was followed by an equally special moment by Councilman Benedett. Look at the very nice phrasing.

"I agree with Mayor Michael Wilson and Councilman Crawford."

No one can motivate or inspire like those two gentlemen.

I will weigh very carefully the impact on my family and new relationship. The last campaign was grueling.

I suspect that if Ted "Never Gonna Be Councilman" Miller throws his hat into the ring I will feel compelled to do the same. I feel it is my duty to keep him honest. He can be a bit verbose and negative so I like to bring a little laughter and joy to the campaign.

My girlfriend as a way to tease me called up the County Board of Elections recently to ask how many votes Casual received. We were both stunned at the information.

Over 100 people put someone other than Mayor Mike for Life on their ballot (I think it was around 120) -- Do you want to guess how many wrote in Casual's name?

You will not believe it.

I received 73 votes for Mayor. I received only 8 votes for Council.

The people on their own decided I would make a better candidate for mayor so they spontaneously -- without prodding from the Casual campaign team of Holly and Ali -- wrote me in for mayor.

I am humbled and deeply touched by this show of support.

My girlfriend was impressed as well and I was duly rewarded.

Since you already brought it up...I have to mention that when I was down at Boro Hall that night, I counted 1778 votes that came in through the voting machines. Mayor Wilson got 1266 of them.

So...while he of course won again (tough not to do when you run unopposed), there were over 100 write in votes for other people as Casual mentioned, but another 400+ people who showed up to vote but refused to vote for Mayor Wilson again. Interesting to see such a large percentage of the voters stay away from Freehold Boro's favorite politician.
