WITH CWA WORKERS Freehold OKs 3-year pact Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/29/07 BY NICK PETRUNCIO FREEHOLD BUREAU FREEHOLD — The Borough Council has voted unanimously to renew a three-year contract with the union representing non-police employees. The agreement between the borough and Communication Workers of America Local 1032 covers the period from Jan. 1, 2007, to Dec. 31, 2009. The approximately 60 borough employees represented by the union will pay 5 percent more for their health care, according to borough Administrator Joseph Bellina.However, they will have more choices for their health plans, Bellina said. Pay raises under the new contract are: First year: 3 percent.
Second year: 2 percent on Jan. 1, 2008, then 1.5 percent on July 1, 2008.
Third year: 2 percent on Jan. 1, 2009, then 2 percent on July 1, 2009.The borough employees represented by the CWA include secretaries, office workers, road workers and water and sewer personnel. For the record, I would have voted, yes. I credit Joe Bellina for a nice job negotiating a good outcome for all involved.
