Freehold considering proposal to prohibit illegal immigrants from renting homes Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 02/7/07 BY NICK PETRUNCIO FREEHOLD BUREAU FREEHOLD -- Residents wishing to rent apartments or houses would have to prove they are citizens or show proof of permanent residency under a committee recommendation the Borough Council is considering. The recommendation is similar to measures proposed in other towns across the country to crack down on illegal immigrants. Mayor Michael Wilson said at a council meeting earlier this week that the borough will look at the 15 recommendations the committee made on rental property issues, which included absentee landlords, overcrowding and upkeep. Wilson said the council will have to look at what it can and cannot do. He gave no indication of what would be or would not be adopted. www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070207/NEWS/70207047

I know that this topic is going in another thread, but I opened this up with the above article due to the fact that this is what the APP and others will focus on. With all that has happened and what was said at the council meeting, why is this the only thing that will be focused on? This is why I have such little trust in the media. The APP could have run a great piece here, but failed. We will have to wait to see what the Transcript will do.
I view it as a publicity issue. The ordinances that other towns are adopting will likely not pass through the courts. This issue seems to be one that is intended to send a tough message. That is not a bad thing in itself.
The down side is that now the advocates for the illegals who rent in Freehold will now have something to gripe about. I hope that the town has a good plan in place to combat the predictable nonsense that will hit the papers. This is one publicity issue that is for Freehold to lose and should not.

Ahhh...but read today's Transcript. Councilman Levine, Mrs. Haley and someone named TE Miller really crucify Fryer. This time the Transcript wrote their stories better and informed everybody the right way about the committees work.

(Thought I object to the term crucify, spank or chastise is more appropriate)

I am in a state of frustration -- it isn't on the website and I don't get my NT until tomorrow! However, I must throw my 2 cents in: Dontcha mean "cruci-frye?" Cheers... Calliope, I am going to add to your state of frustration. The NT will not have this weeks articles on line until tomorrow. And as far as crucifying, only the Mayor can do that. The rest of us are just making noise. one last thing, Calliope, you said two cents. I would say you are worth at LEAST a nickel.

If the comities FF served on had been in Corporate America, he'd been fired and the BOD, as well as share holders would have had him arrested for violations of NDA and Confidentiality.

app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070213/NEWS/702130430Click above and see one of the many things that Freehold is trying to avoid. This story, from Asbury Park, shows a happy ending. No person died. The likely reason is because the fire was next to the fire house. Next incident we may not be so lucky. Thirty Five people in three apartments! That is almost twelve people in each three bedroom apartment. A fourth apartment was vacant so going by the other apartments, there may have been over forty people living in this place had the fourth been occupied. That is sick! This all highlights why the rental advisory board recommendations are good for all people. It is equally about the safety of tenants. I hope the illegal immigrant activists are listening. No person in Freehold wants to see thirty five charred bodies come out of a similar situation.

I was making another one of my unusual and distinctive puns -- cruci-fryre -- ha ha! Thank you for your compliment, dear administrator! I know I must be patient. I know it was a pun, oh silly one. I did get a chuckle as usual. Not only do you constantly show your passion and talent, but your sense or humor, as well, through your very talented writings. ;D

When I served in union negotiations, we had to know when to keep our mouths shut, as well. If either side had gone off and sabotaged the efforts of negotiations, that entity, or person, could have been brought up on unfair labor practices. It is all a matter of ethics and decency.

As a President and COO of a Corporation -- I agree. Of course, this individual would probably have then filed a bogus race-discrimination claim -- which he would have forum shopped before some incompetent court -- resulting in a settlement leaving him to claim victory.

No person in Freehold wants to see thirty five charred bodies come out of a similar situation. The blaze started when a landlord was using a plumber's torch to thaw frozen water pipes in a first-floor vacant storefront, Keddy said. And if this cheap landlord, would have contracted with a LICENSED plumber, he'd still have a building to overcrowd! This brings up another point, will the landlord be issued a fine for perfoming PLUMING with out a licence? SO Penny wise and pound foolish, the greedy b a s t a r d, was making hand over fist with 35 people probably paying him $200.00 plus, per week, and now he has NOTHING!! And Frank would have these tenants Block Code enforcement too! And if something like this happened in there boro, and people die, or just seriously burned, would Frank and his ADVOCATES be charged as accomplices? This again illustrates that Code Enforcement id NOT a civil rights issue! Its just a WHATS RIGHT issue!

OK what if this was a Jury, and a jury member's conduct followed FF's committee conduct? Would this be contempt of court with jail time?

More Letters to the Editor of the APP should do it, Brian. Give Fryer an inferiority complex and drive home the message that he is a nobody that no one wants to hear from about anything he has to say.

More Letters to the Editor of the APP should do it, Brian. Give Fryer an inferiority complex and drive home the message that he is a nobody that no one wants to hear from about anything he has to say. I do believe that more letters are on the way. Getting them printed in the APP is a bit more difficult. As far as giving Frank or anyone an inferiority complex, I doubt that will happen. What he has to say? We may not agree with him, but he is an American citizen and has the right to be heard just like the rest of us. I hope that any letters that differ from what Frank believes, or has said to the papers, show a bit more of a mainstream view point. Let's face it, the majority of Americans do not agree with illegal immigration or the people who support it. There is no good reason why any of us should remain silent. it is time for more of us to make our own noise.
