There is a Rental Advisory Committee meeting in Borough Hall a 8 pm this evening (9/11/06). Committee Chair, John Newman abruptly resigned for personal and professional reasons late last week and the committee is charged with recommending a replacement to the Mayor.
The committee will also consider the direction it will take, this fall, as it edges closer to making its formal recommendations known to the Council. One such recommendation has already been accepted by the town and as of August 1st, ALL rentals in the Borough will be inspected each year, by alphabetized streets.
This will level the playing field for all landlords and tenants as everyone is held to the same standards. Spot complaints will still be accepted and dealt with throughout the full year and violations will be issued whenever and wherever they are found.
If you are interested in the chairmanship role for the RAC or know of others we should consider, come to tonight's meeting or get in touch with me.

Maureen Haley will be our new Chair, pending Mayor Wilson's formal appointment.
The committee also feels that much progress has been made and its recommendations are forthcoming in the next two to three months.
