Except both the FCP and PD websites say Saturday September 16. We'd like to see some of it - does anyone know if it's Saturday, September 15, or Sunday, September 16?
Thanks, Phyllis

I had to chime in about this. This antique fest was the first one in years that I have been able to attend. The wife and I stayed for most of the day. It was a really nice day to relax and enjoy our town. Judging by the constant flow of people, others had the same idea.
Besides the fact that we bought more than we should have and ate like pigs, it was a good opportunity to find out about new businesses that I did not know about.
Apparently there is a new Italian restaurant on Main. They had food for sale outside and it was very, very good.
I did not know that a new antique store had opened up. It is in a bad location, being that it is somewhat out of the way. It is at 8 Throckmorton, just off of South street. I spoke with people who said they have been open for a few months but have not advertised much due to the fact that they are still moving in. The store is not huge and there was not a lot of furniture for sale, but it was worth going into. I think it is a place with several vendors inside so there is a variety of stuff there.
Of course we visited the Grape Beginnings Wine School. The owners actually recognized us from the history tour in June.
Our favorite restaurant, South Street Victorian, had a booth and, as always, their food was the best.
And then there was the brass band, tooting and thumping up and down Main.
It was a good day to be in the borough

It was a good day to be in the borough In all honesty, it was a nice antique fair with a hand full of Italian Food concessions, not a San Gennaro Festival...AKA The Feast of San Gennaro. I would urge the FCP to reach out to the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy, etc... or go to little Italy in NYC to learn more about what is a San Gennaro Festival, AKA Feast of San Gennaro. The street festivities – including religious processions and parades, free entertainment, food stands and a professional cannoli-eating contest – are capped on September 19th with a celebratory Mass and candlelit procession as the Statue of the Saint is carried from its permanent home in Most Precious Blood Church on Mulberry Street.

suggestions for next year.. Best Pizza Pie contest, one for Pizzeria one for Home made!!! Best Tiramisu Pizza Flipping contest Meatball eating contest Spaghetti twirling lessons Best home made Gravy (Thats Marinara for the hombres) Best Home Grown Tomato Best Home Grown Basil "Faux Gondola" Rides Sinatra Contest Or Better, a Sinatra, Dino, Louie Prima, Pat Copper Look alike contest...etc Italian farmers Market...Tomatos, Egg Plants, Zucchini, Arugila, etc... Local HS Marching Bands playing Italian Festival Music (Another Contest) In Fact, since we are the CAPITAL of Monmouth County, why not turn this into the Freehold Boro -MONMOUTH County San Gennaro Feast A two day (Saturday and Sunday) event! Something, anything from St Rose? There are plenty of Italians in Monmouth county, no less, here in the Boro and surrounding communities. Sounds like fun...gheeee and I am not even Italian, or Catholic Two weeks later we have the LATINO Festival, two weeks after that, an Irish Festival, Asian, African, Jewish, Eastern European (Polish-Russian-Ukrainian) Middle Eastern. Every 2nd weekend throughout the fall leading up to Thanksgiving! This will require youth groups, and many community organization from the Boro and surrounding communities in Monmouth county. Imagine people have a great reason to learn as well as get satisfaction out of volunteerism, a common goal? PS, If the FCP wants to reach me, they can reachout!!! ;D
