FREEHOLD BOROUGH, N. J. [AUG. 16, 2007] – It’s time to dust that old Fender off and get ready for Freehold Borough’s first-ever Battle of the Bands! The Freehold Borough Recreation Commission and Freehold Borough Educational Foundation will
co-host the event on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hall of Records’ parking lot, between Lafayette and E. Main streets in downtown Freehold.
Rock out to original sounds by some of the area’s hottest up-and-coming rock bands, while getting the chance to support the community. Some of the bands scheduled to perform include Off 537, The Creetons, The Glass Bombs, Throw the Heat, Robots and Race Cars, Belafonte and Runaway Orange.
Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite band by purchasing $1 tickets at the event. The band with the most votes wins. Proceeds will be donated to the Freehold Borough Educational Foundation to support enhanced music education for students in the Freehold Borough elementary school district.
Kerry and Joe Pompeo, owners of Freehold Borough’s newest recording studio, Blue Room Studios, will offer exciting prizes, including a grand prize to the band garnering the most votes by the end of the show.
“The Freehold Borough Educational Foundation has been a consistent force in driving the community support of our public school system,” said Lynn Reich, a member of the Freehold Borough Recreation Commission. “We hope to bring out the residents of Freehold Borough and surrounding areas who want to relax and enjoy some great music while benefiting our community’s youth.”
“The Battle of the Bands is a terrific way to bring greater awareness to the Foundation. Partnering with the Recreation Commission in this endeavor will help us to promote our mission of excellence in our public schools to a broader audience,” said Jean Holtz, chair of the Freehold Borough Educational Foundation.
Other sponsors of the event include Jersey Pro Sound, Brock Farms and Monmouth County Buildings & Grounds.
Attendance at this event is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase. In the event of inclement weather, Battle of the Bands will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. For more information about the event, please contact Pat Ruegger at (732) 462-4200.
