A suggestion for PEOPLE. We know the names of various slumlords from prior experience. Perhaps neighborhood fliers asking residents to keep an eye on certain properties would help keep an eye on what's going on in and around the neighborhood.
For example, I am sure the neighbors of Mr. Borst's properties would like to be aware of his history and that help is only a phone call away.
BORST PROPERTIES 16 FACTORY STREET; 52 WEST GEORGE STREET; 58 MECHANIC STREET; 19 BENNETT STREET; 24 BOND ST.
Anyone have any other names and addresses to add to the watch list?

Great Idea LS, kind of like Block watchers, something I have been looking to start here, but...you need people to follow through, and there is APATHY beyond belief out there. I hear, "who cares they are quiet people" or "At least they are not selling drugs"....But this has not stopped be from being vigilant either! Shame on the apathetic!

I just compiled a list of 28 patrolmen, 3 detecives and the Captain from Wall (through police blotters online), and that was a waste of time. None of them showed up as property owners through a Monmouthy County Clerk website search.
By the way, people that expect the Wall Police Captain to discipline this guy - don't expect it. Rememember that about 3 weeks ago, this captain Bernard Sullivan got off of a DWI charge.
Anyway, the thought is to single this guy out in the community. Send fliers, or better talk to the neighbors. Make sure that his houses get a flier so it gets back to Borst. Let him know he is being watched (even if people are too apathetic to even pick up the phone about it).

Word is out that Borst has told the Boro he is putting all his properties up for sale in town. That may be good news, but who might replace him and where will Ms. Hernandez take her illegal restaurant next.
Actually, seeking the firing of Borst from the Wall police force may be the wrong way to go. Does the world need another FULL TIME SLUM LORD enjoying his second career?

Give a flier to the realtors and post them nearby. The realtors probably have an obligation to inform the buyer about such things.
Maybe it'll drive the price down so that an owner occupier can afford it.

I believe that this is the great house that my sister and brother-in-law rented for a couple of years about 5 or 6 years ago. It's up the Street from Councilwoman Shutzer. Very charming house that dates to around the Civil War. We had a couple really memorable Victorian-style Christmas mornings in that house (my Brother-in-law iss not Jewish).
The house was owned by a government employee that was relocated to Texas. He was holding onto it pending his possible return to Freehold. My family really wanted to buy it from him, in the worse way, but he wasn't interested. So, Desly and Alex had to move to Raintree and eventually down to Manchester Township. Too bad, they love FB as much as Betsy, the boys and I do.
What would have been a nice owner occupied home filled with period antiques and fond memories, has ended up becoming an unkempt home rented to illegal aliens, who probably could care less about its history and charm - just the number of rooms available for sleeping.

A more efficient way to research would be to pull the list of the entire Wall Police dept through the APP "Data Universe" mini-site ( tinyurl.com/2rtnkd ).

Marc I drove past there this afternoon, and 52 West George is now on the market.

Brian, bring this up at the next council meeting, and see if you get more that a "thank you, thats interesting!"
And who's paying for this in the Boro? I don't see this happening, it is too technologically savvy, and be a full time job here.
As well, this would be unfaltering to prospective developers that we need to sell this Boro too.
Maybe good for Belmar, but we do not have an 4 out of 12 month "Animal House" problem here.

possible mexican hookers being brought into #29 after 9pm according to local residents....
Maybe Chief Roth should focus on REAL ISSUES, not just kissing butt!

Let's cut the Chief a break. He is a good man with an impressive public safety education and work background. Chief Roth promises to be the best chief we've had in awhile. His job is to be a "peace keeper" (not storm trooper) and if his relationship with particular communities is built on the kind of trust that leads to good tips and quicker arrests, we should all be very happy.
By the way, I hearrd the comments he has made regarding 287g from many other chiefs (including the one in Morristown).
Moreso, if he is a leader of men and they respond to him, it will not be long before we can tell if his tenure should be short or long. I'll, particularly, be watching our crime figures trends and the sense of order the department exudes, along with the department's approach to community relations (responding to and following up on residential complaints).
The guy just got started, give him a break. Don't take the wind out of his sails...or what will we have left? He needs some community support.
Now...let's see what is happening with the tip you provided, above.

I had a good feeling one existed in the borough somewhere. See my post from 6-19-07 titled Hispanic Brothels on the General board. I would link to it but it didn't work.

"His job is to be a "peace keeper" (not storm trooper)" Why can't he be both?

Word is out that Borst has told the Boro he is putting all his properties up for sale in town. That may be good news, but who might replace him and where will Ms. Hernandez take her illegal restaurant next. Anyone see any of these properties being "for sale"? I would think not until he sees if he gets spanked, or a slap on the wrist. I also assume that his police department has not taken any action either.
