Freehold Borough
An old and historic little community. One of the oldest in the nation. Home of the Battle of Monmouth and Bruce Springsteen.
This little town is the county seat and could be considered the central point in NJ.
Plenty of local shopping, restaurants, houses of worship, and easy access to an award winning Park System.
Due to it's proximity, Freehold Borough allows for easy access to many major highways for ease in getting to other places quickly. All roads do lead to Freehold.

This is absolutely delighful, Brian -- and you are EXACTLY right. These elements and more are the reasons why I wanted to live and play here. Although I actually reside in the Twp. because I could not find a suitable rental (sadly...no Victorian homes were available for me to inhabit), I a as close as I can be. Again, I want to point out my client from southern California who visited -- she fell in love with FB and, being a California girl all her life, was agape at being right in the heart of the Revolutionary War's pivotal battle sites. She loved the charm of Main Street and the people who she found so friendly and warm. She loved the older buildings and homes. Charlene took her FB experience back to CA with her, and how wonderful is that? And, when I converse with folks from all across the country, quite a few have heard of Freehold, especially if they are Springsteen fans. When you add in the historic element, especially to folks out west, they are intrigued and some are a bit envious. FB is abundant in so many ways, it's time to bring out all its attributes -- so, good work with your posts above Brian. Let's see who else can come up with great things FB has. I love the majestic old courthouse! Wyane started it--it is all his fault! ;D

Freehold Borough
I couldn't locate the beginning of the thread that lead to you all posting the things you like most about the Borough, but I will point out that the threads under "Main Street" and "History" don't get read enough by our visitors. There are are many positive, interesting and fun things posted under those headings and serve to prove that you don't have to stray too far from the Borough to be educated or entertained.
Just look at the International choirs and Opera star appearing in our town. Note that President Clinton came here in 1996 to address our residents. How many other local towns can make that claim? None in recent memory.
Most visitors seem to come to this board to battle over the immigration issue or to criticize the council and board of education for various policies and actions. This is fine, because it is a key purpose of this and any other grass roots civic group. My point is, however, that PEOPLE is also about "life in Freehold Borough," and we have so much to offer.
Realize that this little town just produced State Champions in Girl's HS Soccer, at their level. How many municipalities are there in NJ - something like 533? And, how many State Champions in Girl's HS Soccer are there in the US - that's right ONLY 50. Now, how many residents of the town actually followed their progress or even attended a single one of their games? In Texas, this HS stuff is akin to Religion.
If FB is to gain a positive image, we must make the PEOPLE site the consummate place for residents to discuss issues that concern them...and families to decide what they want to do here over the weekend. We want school kids to research Peter Vredenburgh or Governor Joel Parker on this site. We want Senior citizens to reminisce about old time, by reading about Sam Venti's time at the Rug Mill. We want fans from around the world to check in on and post more about Bruce Springsteen and his home town.
Yes, when the PEOPLE website evolves into being the true portal into life in Freehold Borough, it will earn a good place in the town's history and future promise.
